Cobra heat exchanger

Hey guys, I'm upgrading the heat exchanger in my cobra soon, and I've heard (and been asked) by many SS/Redline owners about buying my H/E. One guy even offered me 250 bucks.

I'm just wondering, is there a market for them? I figured I'd post here, and help someone out if my 03 H/E is a good upgrade for you guys.

My car only has 14,000 miles on it, and it's in mint condition, so the heat exchanger is pretty new, with minor road dings that would be expected for 14,000 miles.

Anyway, what's the market for these, and is it possible to get about $200 shipped out of em over the net? The guys I talked to in person said people were asking 300 for cobra H/Es on Ebay, so i figured 200 done deal isn't bad?

Anyway, just askin'. Thanks for reading.

I could take some pics of the heat exchanger if some people on here were interested.

I have some pics of my car, on my phone website... the pics were taken from my phone, but will give you an idea of the condition of the vehicle, and how I take care of it.

These are the only ones I have right now, and I'm at work, so pics would be a little bit later.

Disclaimer: There's other pictures on the website, of I don't really know what (since they come straight from my cell phone) so if you are easily offended, please do not visit that URL.

06Redline: Is that it online? Or this site? Or generally? I was given the impression that around 200 wasn't a bad deal.

Only reason I ask is because for 100 shipped, depending on what the shipping cost would be, it really wouldn't be worth the hassle to get rid of the stock unit.. I don't think 200 shipped is a bad price for such a unit... but again, I don't know how much they are an upgrade to your vehicle (have heard they are a great unit for it, a guy at the track in a SS is the one who offered me 250, but he lived in PA and wanted it the next night LOL)

Should've taken the $250
The going price is $75-100 plus shipping. They can be had for as low as $50 plus shipping though.

Yeah I guess I should have, lol.

I told the guy I would, but I would have to have another unit ordered, or on, since this is my primary DD.

I guess 100 + shipping isn't bad, it would offset the upgraded one by about 25%.

I need to upgrade soon though.. just upped the boost on the cobra to 13 lbs, and I'm getting quite a bit of heatsoak after driving around... during an average street race i'm down about 30-40 HP on average with my stock cooling system

If you want to sell the h/e on this website....it will ONLY sell for $75-150. That's how much people are buying them for on here. $250??? That's WAY too!!!!

I know the extra reservior helps out, as does the plumbing you can do to get to 4 and 8 (I think those are the ones at the back).
I priced a 'upgraded' HE and it isn't cheap. LFP had a great price.

Ah yes, you're referring to #7 & #8, those are the problem heads..(the two out back that have a flawed design and don't move coolant very well)

yeah there's a few head cooling mods, which are actually pretty cheap, but it only helps out those 2 heads, and doesn't help with heatsoak.

But yes, I need to get a coolant reservoir and a new H/E With my pulley set up, I'm spinning the eaton at about 17,500 RPM, and without it being ported, it spins past it's efficiency range at 18,500 and heatsoaks the rest of the motor.

Hell, at 17,500 RPM i'm heatsoaking like crazy.

The price you pay for a Heaton

I guess I'll try to get 100 + shipping for it then, or $150 shipped, I wasn't trying to screw anyone over, I just heard from a couple SS guys, and a redline guy, that they used to see cobra H/E's for 50-100 now they can't find em for under 250-300 and how pissed they were. So I figured I'd post here, since I trolled for a few awhile, just never registered till today.

$100 plus shipping is very fair. I got mine from a shop that had them laying around, mine wasn't in excellent condition, it was more than adequate though.
