All Cobalts Canceled for 2009
All Cobalts Canceled for 2009
It's probably been posted but did you guys know there will be a cobalt replacement for 2009 or 2010 on the delta platform? GMX071 Chevrolet Cobalt replacement 2010 Global Delta for GMNA, Lordstown

If that article is true then that means they only planned 4 years for the Cobalt? That seems like a real short time to have a car released. 95% of oweners won't even have the car paid off by that point.
Damn... that's some BS

Not surprised by that. With the annoucement of the SS S/C cancelled in 2008 I suspected the entire platform would be cancelled shortly there after. It would make sense that they are just going to get rid of their parts for the G5 and Cobalt and probably Pontiac Pursuit and others. They will change interiors and exteriors in all full sized vehicles that they are keeping as well. I heard the Saturn Ion is also cancelled which is another Delta body. It is a very short lifespan for our cars and it sucks if true.

b/c the caviler lasted how long??? i doubt that GM is going to kill there entry level car... and leave what the Aveo to carry the small car burden
i think that artical has more to do with delaying the model redesign, & building the current cobalt design for longer... then actually doing away with the cobalt/G5 all together

General Motors has told union officials in Lordstown, Ohio, that it may delay rollout of the next version of its compact car if it doesn't resolve some labor issues.
delaying a new model could mean keeping the current version of the Cobalt around longer than had initially been planned.

It was the same for me, I test drove all kinds of cars and the only way I knew about it was I drove by the dealership.
I know I saw it that day and pretty much knew I wanted one. and a year and a half later I bought myself a 2006. I did my research and knew what I wanted. Advertising was out there.
So, ummm.... do you not watch the superbowl? Cuz Superbowl 2004 was all about it. Chevy had the commercial with the cobalts playing kickball until big brother corvette came and kicked it onto the roof of the parking building?

I think the real truth is that they cannot over advertise it, or atleast advertise it to us. They are killing the SC and I believe the SS soon (dont jump all over me, i think i could be wrong) so advertising is not gonna be anywhere to attract us. Compact, economy car is going to be more for the older generations. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up killing the coupe as well. Who is going to want a 2 door economy car, that you can't fit people in the back of? Everyday I pass an 80 year old woman with a Sunburst Orange LT and it drives me nuts.
I can see it now, in a few years we are going to be the guys that modded cars that no one associates with modding.
They aren't losing money. For each one of us that brings the car to the shop 18 times to get it right there are 1000 people that say, well, thats just what happens with cars. Haven't you seen fight club.
A*B*C < cost of recall then there is no recall.

not to highjack, but if you like fight club you should see Green Street Holigans!!
^^^ My point exactly. I think we are going to end up being the guys modding cars that people see as commonplace. It's how you are going to be able to tell granny from grandkid.
I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion
