Confused on wheels and tires...
When I buy my balt, I will be putting new wheels and tires on it asap. I'm seeing a lot of wheels I like, but I don't want to change the wheel size because I'm afraid itll make the car slower with bigger wheels. I went to the dealer and asked about it, and the GM said he has a program where it can reprogram the computer up to 2 inches more then the stock steelies and give the car its stock gear ratios? So would that mean I would be fine with 17 inch rims inlcuding NON profile tires?
He's probably talking about calibrating the speedometer to correct for a different sized tire. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "NON profile tires"? The easiest thing to do if you are going to change wheel size is to find a tire to put on that wheel that stays as close to the stock diameter as you can.
If you can post size of the tire that would be comming on your car I can try and look up some 17 inch tires (or others if you want) that would work well without needing to re-program the computer.
You could also try this site. It tells you the difference between 2 different sized tires.

I basically want to keep the stock diameter of the whole tire and wheel together, if possible. and yes, im talking about the calibrating on the speedometer.
oem tire size-195/60-16
bp-4x100
offset range-35 to 45
i would like to have 17 inch rims without sacrificing a comfortable ride

I just looked at tire sizes, not wheels.
17 inch tires that would be very close height to the 195/60/16 stock size:
205/50/17 <--closest, height and width
215/50/17 <--slightly taller overall, aprox 1%
215/45/17 <--slightly shorter, aprox 2.6%
225/45/17 <--slightly shorter, aprox 1%
225/50/17 <--slightly taller, aprox 2.6%
That gives you some sizes to play around with. Good luck finding wheele's and I hope this helped.
