Ticking Noise from wheel/tire?
Ticking Noise from wheel/tire?
Sup guys,
Driving home today with the windows open (first time in a while, a/c is my best friend in summer lol), started hearing a ticking noise as I drive (sounds like its coming from the front right wheel or tire). Does anyone know what it could be? I checked the rims and tires and they are ok. This sound is very annoying but not noticeable when the windows are up.

I have this too, it sounds like theres a rock in the tire thread, making the clicking noise, but its not. I've grown to live with it, since there is nothing I can do about it. However, there have been threads about this before, I'm just to lazy to search. If I remember correctly, some members says its normal, and others say there is something wrong within the suspension. Those who have gone to the dealer, and had parts replaced, noted that the sound went away for a while, but eventually came back.
I am having the same problem (2007 ls) and i noticed it starting around 500-600 miles, i now have 1192miles on it and it annoys the HELL out of me. So i turn up the radio (i only notice it below 20mph, after that wind noise covers it up). Its so slight i can barely hear it, but not knowing what it is kills me inside
The wheel is on tight, I will have another look at the tire to make sure it's not a nail. Honestly at first I thought it was tape or gum stuck to the tire lol, but it's not.
Just to update, I had a friend stand outside while I move the car extremely slow, the ticking noise becomes a sort of flapping noise and only occurs once in a while... But when I go fast I hear nothing but the ticking noise.
I have a rental base 4 door G5 and shes got the same noise.. you guys are right its annoying as hell, and almost embarassing.. maybe that has to do with me pretty much sitting in the backseat of this G5 4door as I have to put the seat so far back, I literally look out the back window over my left shoulder! LoL
Wow....i thought i was the only one having this problem. I too thought forever that it was just a rock stuck in my tire but ive looked and looked....no rock. I kinda thought for a while that it might be a loose hub cap or something but that wasnt it either. Mabye ill find out sometime but for now who knows
I don't have this problem on my car, but my girlfriend has an 07 G6 GT and hers does it when she turns left. It's coming from the right front wheel. Same noise you're describing, ticking like a rock or something in the tire. I keep telling her to take it in, but she wants to wait till her first oil change. I'll let you all know if they figure it out, should be next week sometime.

I bought a LS a couple of weeks ago and hear a ticking. I also hear a squeal when i'm lightly applying the brakes. The noise doesn't bother me too much, but something being wrong with my brand new car does.
Well it looks like I'll be going into the dealership soon.
I lifted the front right of the car (where the noise is coming from), spun the wheel (it does not make that noise...) so I tried to open the wheel, and the GODDAMN lugnut broke (theres a round peice thats not part of the grip of the lug nut still on the sud) so now im f*cked up... I dont know but I gotta break it before I go to the dealership...
If the cars lifted and it never made that noise while spinning the wheel real fast... it has to be something wrong with suspension right? maybe a cv boot or control arm bushing....

I had the same thing on my car and got it fixed. But for my car it was the hubcap flapping in the wind and hitting the steel rim. The fix was an easy fix. They just put insulating tape on thge inside to push it out a bit so it can't hit the rim. But you don't have hubcaps....so really I have no idea what it oculd be then.
