The GM kit is so much better looking
Wonder how much they are going to charge for it at the dealers?

The RK Sport kit doesn’t flow with the car. It really isn’t my cup of tea.
I absolutely hate the Razzi Front, but the side skirts and the rear is sweet.

Also notice the different mirrors. Looks like RK Sport painted the base model mirrors to match the body color.

i like the rk kit, i agree 110% on the razzi kit, sides and rear are nice but front has got to go. gm kit isnt that going to be standard on the ss s/c?

I like the SEMA Cobalt alot, except for the offset hood scoop. If someone makes the hood in a camaro SS style that has been posted here before, that would be the setup for me.

I still love the stock SS look though, so even if I don't have the time or money for a kit it's no big deal.

good news...

i received an email from rksport today after work, saying they will provide a 10% discount on pre-ordered cobalt body kits. he didnt say how long the offer would last, but as a member here, you get 10% off. and this goes for the hood, as well as the 4piece body kit.

good ish..now to just tell my dealer the info. :-D

Not everybody shares your view though. Some people believe the performance in the standard Coupe or Sedan is all they need, they just want it to "look" different than anybody elses.

And in my opinion I'd hardly call the Cobalt a "crappy car"

the SS\SC body kits are all ready being put on base coupes and they are being called SSR's

I have also seen an LS coupe with the razzi kit on it and from the back and side it looked great. Never saw the front because once I flew past him he didn't want to play anymore. I guess he knew better than trying against an SS

Both the razzi and rk sport kits look like junk, they'd have to pay me to put that shit on my car. The stock SS kit on the other hand has a nice look, the only thing I don't like about it is that park bench that GM calls a spoiler. I think GM went a little overboard trying to reach out to the ricer crowd on that one...If I buy an SS, the first thing I'm gonna do is chop off that monstrosity...when you're old school like I am, you don't drive around with a boeing 747 wing on your car. The razzi spoiler actually looks pretty decent in comparison, does anybody have more pics of the razzi spoiler from different angles?

While I was at the dealership a few days picking my LS sedan back up (idiot maintenance guy at my college hit it while I was in class) and they happened to have a LS coupe with the Razzi body kit. I will just say that the pics do not do the kit any justice at all. It fit the car very well and gave it an even more aggressive look. The only downfall was that they had some extremely stupid looking wheels on it

Old school like you? So old school that you're buying a Cobalt. I bet you're one of those guys who hates the new GTO's, too.

I'm sick, and tired, and what the hell, tired again.. .of people refering to bodykits, neons, spoilers, and loud mufflers as "ricer". There are TONS of cars that are marketed for having alot of aftermarket products that are TWICE as fast as the Cobalt, hell, Cobalt SS for that matter. If kids want to throw loud exhaust on their Honda Civics, LET THEM! When you pull up in something better, THEN get your grins. If thats what those kids like, if thats what gets them into cars, more power to them. In my opinion, the Razzi spoiler LOOKS LIKE PURE SHIT, but do I go around posting that? Nope. Sure, you're free to do it, but you sound like a complete jackass. I know it's called an opinion and maybe its the fact I havent slept much in the past couple of nights but you came off very unintellegent in that post.

I own a 1969 Ford Mustang, as well as my newest car, the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, which I just got about a month ago. I like the Cobalt, and think they're a neat car. I love my Mustang though, it was my first car, and my first love. I do not like the fact that kids are throwing bodykits, neons, and loud mufflers on Eclipse's and people are gawking at them, thinking they're fast, and whats twice as bad is the owner of the Eclipse thinks he's fast.

But big wings, bodykits, neons, and exhaust don't only go on ricer cars. I can't tell you how many friends of mine at work have pulled up to cars that look like "rice" and get their ass handed to them. If the car is fast, its fast. If its a kid in a Civic with a pipe, its a kid with a big imagination.

For fucks sake, just enjoy the scene

i like the razzi front, but it should be a whole bumper, not a fascia, cuz it dont flow. the rk sport is alright and the stock is the best out of them all. as far as the gravana, i hate it, looks like a fish mouth.

I'd consider looking into the SS kit for my LS...but please tell me it doesn't come with that spoiler ! I also like the RK Sport package (wouldn't bother with the hood unless I supercharge or turbo it) but with all of them the biggest question in my mine is what do I do in the winter when snow banks start getting high enough to hit the extensions...and I'm not sure it'd be worth putting them on and taking them off every winter :).

As well, being new to modding my car (didn't figure my 98 cavy was worth it) how would the kit work? Would it replace both my front and rear bumpers all together, or are they simply extensions to what I already have?

I love the stock GM kit, if anything I get a new rear valance for when I put on my dual exhaust(mainly for looks and a tad for performance). As far as the wing goes, that's part of the reason I bought the car, but i'm not rice at all, my other car is a Mustang GT..

Permafried-
07-28-2005, 05:49 PM
I'm considering the GM front and rear valances (keep my stock LS front bumper) and the ground effects but a couple of things scare me. First, it might look like hte car is swallowing my 16" rims with that much of an extension on it. Second, since I have the foglights on my LS the plastic around the lights and the grill is black which may breakup the car too much if I put the extension on.

By far though the GM kit is the only kit I would consider buying on the car unless mixing the RK Sport front valance with the rear one from the Razzi kit and the SS ground effects would work .

Will the front valence fit on the LS? I don't want the SS front bumper.. just the valence. I also need to know if the SS ground effects for the sides and rear will fit on the LS.

No the valance will NOT fit the stock LS bumper. The SS bumpers are notched out and the valances have tabs on them that slide into the notches. The only way I could see this possbily working would be some pretty major bodywork to your bumper to cut the required notches out and keep your fingers crossed the plastic doesn't split. Other than that I don't see any way of doing it. As for the ground effects, not sure on this one but I can't imagine it would be a huge deal. You'd have to remove the front mud flap and I would assume it would just go into place. You'd have to check with your dealer on this one. As for the rear valance, same goes as for the front, there is no way for it to fit the stock LS bumper, the notches are present on the rear as well. Here's a pic showing the notches on the rear bumper and a similar setup is present on the front. This is the SS itself without the rear valance (from another member on the forums):

In the pics above, the sides of rksport's spoiler seem to hang lower than the center piece from the back view. On my spoiler the wing is the same lenth from the back end.

Just thought I'd share, that must have been an older test fitter or something. :)

grills are handy when you have an intercooler, but your an LS so it doesnt make a diff unless you go turbo anyway, but in that case, enjoy spending 1,000 everytime something hits it and you need a new one :cssNET:

Are there any new front fascias out there that have an open grill and perhaps acomodate a different style headlight? I was thinking a fascia light combination that produced a look similar to that of putting vinyl eyebrows on the lights. It would be smoother and look far more natural. This is probably unlikely but I was just curious.

Shipping was $100 to my house so your looking at about 1800 to get it. I then got a quote of about another $2000 to install. So your looking at almost $4,000 to get this. It was temping for me but I would feel bad giving that kinda of cash for just a kit.

That $4,000 is enough to buy just about every performance upgrade that's supposed to hit the market in the near future. And with the $4,000 spent on the kit, you lose your fog lights and get no performance enhancement. Personally, I can't stand having a car without fog lights. Think you made a wise decision passing on the price tag.

That body kit is lighter then the stock one. you would be gaining performance buy weight savings. just cost alot to save that much weight

Yeh, purchasing an 1800$ body kit is at the bottom of my list at this point. I plan to invest in rebuilding internal components of the engine for a stage 3 turbo system by the end of the year (if they get them out on the market soon enough).

The scoop is retarded but the rest looks f ing sweet.

on the chevy 272 concept cobalt the scoop looks better in real life. actually as good as the car looks in pictures, it looks so much better in person. also, the reason the scoop is offset like that is cuz it feeds directly into the supercharger like a ram air set up. i'd take it.

I want something to fill the wheel wells, but what would be the best choice for optimum performance on an 05 baseline. my goal is 250 bhp w/ a stg2 vortech s/c kit.

Ok I know the flaming will proceed but this is what the drifter 2 looks like on my car. Also just custom painted my headlights. They appear black, but shine the same color as the car. It is hard to explain, but it is a color changing effect like the khameleon paints.

And just so you guys who hate the look don't have to post all the flaming I will flame myself for you in a lil song I just thought up.

All the cobalts hate it, purple cobalt made it, its so riiiicey. so riiiiiicey...

If I remember right, on another site I am on, it said it was a full custom drifter 2 wide body kit. Thats the sexiest cobalt in existance though!

saw a celica the other day, i think it was an '05. it had the new body kit action package thing, with THIS wing:

now, i know that this thing wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but for those looking for parts to make a cobalt look like the black 272 SEMA cobalt, it would be a close bet.

Any sedan kit will fit a sedan, and any coupe kit will fit a coupe with the exception of the rksport kit. It will not fit on the ss/sc with out taking off the stock lip kit and mdding the rksport to work. As for an LTZ, any sedan bodykit will fit.

yes. either look for someone on here selling it (there are a few) or you can go to the dealer and they can order it for you. I believe either crateenginedepot.com or gmpartdirect.com will also have it but you would have to order it primer colored and have it color matched

If I ever hit the lottery and had wads of cash to spend on relatively pointless mods, i'd def get the Grip Tuning kit. Man that kit is seeeexxxxyyy!!!

Yes I know, getting crazy custom drilled 19" Axis wheels when I already have less than 6 month old 18" Enkei's could be considered a "relatively pointless mod" as well........but hey, im a genuine grade A WHEEL WHORE!!! lol

Is this guy for real?!
I was at the dealership the other day talking to the guy incharge of getting all their parts. When I asked about body kits and said that I have an LS, he told me the chasis for an LS and a Cavalier are the same thing and therefor a Cavalier kit would fit my car.

I think he's full of :nono: because the body styles are different, so the lines wouldn't match up. What do you guys think.

Hello: I appreciate the warm welcome you have given me. I'm over 70 years of age and just bought a new red 2006 Cobalt ss. For me it is a round robin. My first car was a 1955 Packard which I made over to a very good performer when I was 20. It was the only one in the country I believe that was bored stroked to 440ci, camed carbureted, atomatic to stick with all of the traditionals. The Cobalt has been a true delite. I also have a Trailblazer ss awd. Which I have parked since I bought the Cobalt. I may put a stage 2 kit on it. Has any one superinposed the accelerating curve for the 2006ss over the 2008ss for comparison?
