friday night(6/30/07 1:44am) im driving NORMALLY down 436 around 45-50 cruising. all of a sudden i hear and feel a large crash. I jumped up in the air about 5-10 feet, lost control when i came down car shut completely off, spun around once smacked my rims on a median spun in the oncomming lane once and finally came to a stop on top of the median again. where my car bled to death oil and coolant leaking everywhere. i got out of the car noticed the remains of my baby. i smacked over/into a rear differential that was lying in the road and must have fallen off the bed of a truck or something. and I hit it. the randomest thing in the effing world and i hit it. there was no way to swerve to avoid hitting it. dark ass 436 no street lights out near classic nissan. popped out of nowhere and it felt like i was outside of my body, my foot was locked on the brake pressing as hard as i could seeing as how i didnt have and power brakes. not to mention controlling the wheel asmuch as i could without power steering and the car spinning out of control. thanks everything that there was no other cars in the oncomming lane. and thanks to my best friends matt and kwame for stopping and seeing if i was okay. my babys at the dealer bleeding, waiting till effing monday untill the insurance adjuster looks over the car and gives me a claim. My radiator was hit in the middle splitting it into a V shape 6 inches back toward the motor. theres a VERY large hole in my oil pan, my pump for my aftercooler was ripped off front tranny mount ripped off it looks like my entire motor was moved back a good 2 inches my rear rims, the passanger rear rim was smashed in at the bottom making it look like MAJOR positive camber same for the driver side rear. i dont even know what happened to the front wheels cuz they hit too dont know if i broke my axles or what but that diff MESSED me up. im not gonna lie, i love that car i cried a little when i got out and realized the damage. i love my cobalt it sux seeing it that way. but who could imagin my luck

 

Thats ******* crazy man. Hope you're alright, and I hope they give you some good news about the balt. But damn, that really is random.

 

Sorry to hear that man , I can feel your pain . My car is at the body shop right now ....a semi blew a tire out in front of me on the highway and I ran over the cap going about 85 . Did $3800 in damages to front and underside of my car , it was a mess .

Damn...at least you're okay and not hurt. The car can always be replaced, but you can't. Glad you're not hurt from such an accident. And good luck with the insurance comp., hopefully it can be fixed, or at least replaced.

with my monti carlo i hit a sign that was lieing in the road and did over 6k in damage, all of it cosmetic.

 

yea it sux i feel like i lost my freedom. not to mention it looked like ALOT of damage and i dont even know when the diff ripped my oil pan open if it hit my crankshaft. if it did thats major damage.... :"( its like i dont want it to be totalled cuz i love the car but then i kinda do cuz its such a curse to have a car that was in an accident u know?

 

I would kind of think it being totalled would be better than having them fix it. It sounds like with all of that damage it will never drive as good as it used to. Unless you end up losing a lot of money if they total it then that sucks as well.

i know it seems like ALOT of damage. cuz im not even sure if the diff caused my motor to seize or caused the crank to spin or if when it broke a hole in the oil pan if it spun a bearing with no oil. i dont know the extent tomorrow im meeting up with the insurance guy and i dont know what im hoping for. i want to total it cuz i know it wont drive the same but then i LOVE my cobalt so i dunt know what i want. the thing is i LOVE MY! cobalt. the car is cool but id rather upgrade if given the choice. evo or sti.... my car was a little fdaster than an evo or sti stock but at least its a better starting ground. i duno. i love my cobalt with everything inside of me. but sometimes its just better to let stuff go.

to lighten my mood. one of my friends with a SS/sc told me that hed have to say i hold the record for MOST AIRTIME in a COBALT SS/sc hahahah made me laugh alot

That sucks man, I wish you the best. But I might give you some compatition for that most air time in a SS/SC. When I totaled my first one I flew through the air pretty good. Drunk guy hit me in a driverside head on and sent me flying. To the extent that I bounce of a brick wall three lanes the other direction and came down on the hood of another car ripping the whole passenger side roof off as he came to a stop. Look at the pics in my gallery and you will see for yourself. If anything I still hold the record for the highest air anyway. Anyway goodluck to you man, and I really hope they total it for your sake.

you gotta stop with all this love i love i love the cobalt from the bottom of my heart , i mean its a car, what matters is you made it out ALIVE, and your fine!

If its totalled, oh well, you can get a new one, after major accidents most cars never drive the same, like you said, upgrading is always a plus.

Damn man I am sorry to hear about your bad luck. I hope the insurance company does what you want them to and total it. I cant imagin that happening to my car.

 

so it looks like the insurance guy said its pretty effed up but theres a chance it wont be totalled. im very very happy. yet i still havent put all my marbles into that jar. cuz there is still a chance it can be. he has to get it up on a lift to check completely to see the extent of the damage. so since tomorrow dealer is closed ill have to wait till like friday'ish. either way. maybe ill go test drive an evo saturday or friday just to see and keep my options open.

 

so whats the news on the car? Totaled??

 

they told me i have to wait till monday or tuesday untill they can even get it on a lift for the insurance guy. i hate chevy service. they really do hire anyone off the streets. bullcrap around for a week and then tell me of sorry, we cant get to yer car UNTIL next week IF that. ill leave em alone as long as i can find out if my car is dead or not.
