SS spoiler vs reg GM spoiler...

OK i was thinking about buying the low profile stock GM spoiler for the cobalt.

I had a few questions before I do this tho.

1.) Is the stock SS spoiler functional? would I notice any difference in the driving of my vehicle going from the big SS one to the Regular cobalt one?

2.) are the holes on the trunk the same for these 2 spoilers?

3.) Is it hard to do a swap between the 2?

well ya see, I thought about that....

the Cobalt SS spoiler might be on there for performance purposes. The reg cobalt spoiler might just be for looks, so one of my ?'s was did it have a performance impact on drivability....

losely fits the description, but it does

Well.... I believe you would notice a bit of a difference between the two, even though the cobalt SS is a front wheel drive car, the spoiler does put a little bit of force down on the rear wheels possibly stabilizing you as you take high speed corners. You'd probably notice something, although why on earth would you WANT to swap out the spoiler, that thing's great.... (except when it flops around at high speeds)

I like my spoiler even though it is big, that way from any angle there is little confusion as to if it's an SS or not.

And it is plenty funtctional.

Really, unless you plan on travelling at high speeds the majority of the time, there isn't a performance gain for daily driving. The holes are in the same place as the SS spoiler so that shouldn't be an issue and the swap is a do-it-yourself job. Good luck!

I want to get my windows tinted. IM afraid with tint and the damn wing on the back I wont be able to see out the back window period. I definately dont want to back into anything nore get in an accident, so this was my theory. Put on smaller wing, get windows tinted, or keep big wing and no tint for me.

I might actually agree on it being functional if it didn't flutter in the wind at speed. That alone makes me think it doesn't do squat.

I'd have to agree with the last post.
You need alot of down force in stop and go traffic... HAHA!!

The wing is functional, it is the same one on the gm cobalt race car look at the pics of it on the car that beat the skyline 600hp on the front page all pictures of the cobalt race cars have them, like another said though their is really no point for downforce in stop and go traffic! Any car that can go 140mph would benefit from a functional wing. And one more thing the porsche my uncle has (1996 carerra 4) the wing pops out at anything over 70 mph. Just something to think about. One other thing the reason u see it bounce around is b/c it is actually working just the material is too flemsy just need to swap the middle peice out for carbon fiber and watch out the wing vibrates b/c it has pressure pushing it downwards, hence the reason it blocks your vision, and u will notice at 70mph the wing is wing is higher than when you are going 100 and it is lower b/c of downforce.

actually, the low pro spoiler gets in the way more. i've driven both types of spoiler. The SS one allows you to see under, which the LS/LT is right in the way. I'm looking to put the SS spoiler on AFTER i get rims and an appropriate body kit.
