View Full Version : Sunroof button trim - What the hell?!?
Young Money 10-12-2005, 12:34 PM Okay... so I was one of the many who dealt with this problem right after I got my Cobalt. And many moons ago when I had it "fixed" I ended up sitting in the dealership for about 6 hours because, "we had to remove your headliner, a pillar, put a new bracket in there etc..." So tell me why the damn trim fell off again yesterday?!?! Not to mention, I took a look at the new bracket they put in... same damn thing as the old one!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so pissed right now... it's the little things, you know? It just makes the interior look so ghetto... ugh
Okay... done venting...

sneaky 10-12-2005, 12:46 PM Nothing that some industrial strength super glue can't fix.
Mikecobalt 10-12-2005, 01:11 PM you don't have to tell me about this, I've been to the dealer 4 times for that trim, It's just doens't want to stay in place... It's been a week now hope it's stays up there
SilverSS/SC 10-12-2005, 02:02 PM With everyone complaing about this , I feel lucky . Mine is still firmly attached and doesnt appear to show a single sign of loosening up ....after 4 months that Ive had my SS .
OniMirage 10-12-2005, 02:15 PM Ok so I had the same problem ... if it is the same lil trim outline I am thinking of ... so anyway the lil hook things that are supposed to keep it in place ... try slowly and carefully bending them outwards ... when they have less inward curve put it back in place (be firm) and you shouldn't have this issue anymore ... I haven't and I drive on some bad roads at times due to construction in the area
Young Money 10-12-2005, 02:38 PM Yea... I could deal with it if it was some new issue... I'm more fuming over the fact I lost like 6 hours of my life for something that was apparently not done...
mikekoz 10-12-2005, 02:46 PM that sucks. Hopefully this time they will fix it right. :barf: :barf:

just touch it once... i dare you, haha. Mine fell of once but i got it back in... but then i noticed the button itself had been crooked, so i straightened that out and the trim fell out and i gave the f---up...

Python467 10-16-2005, 12:48 AM dude, try this one on for a size....i took my grand prix in for the steering wheel leather wearing off and peeling when i get my car back (thank god i spotted it before i left the lot) there is a HOLE in my steering wheel. some tard jabbed a screwdriver in it an f'd up my airbag.
BeastlyTA 11-04-2005, 03:59 PM Guys do like OniMirage and Chevypowered said to do. This will solve your problems.
What you need to do is just bend the brackets (shown in the pic below) downward so that there is a larger area for the trim piece to clip onto. What I did was to pull the headliner out from around the sunroof (really easy to do, just pull the bottom part of the rubber deal that goes around the sunroof out so that you can pull the headliner down.) When you do this, it allows you to put your hand in there to help support the headliner so that you dont mess it up from pushing on the trim piece. You will have to push kinda hard to get it to clip back in place but it will be there for good then.

fifasf 11-04-2005, 05:28 PM It broke on mine twice. Now they ordered me a new headliner and are installing it on the 11th. Hey, it is under warranty and , knock on wood, if this is the inly thing that goes wrong I will be happy.

my dealer removed the rubber gasket around the sunroof and fixed it that way.
