Motor Trend -drive video/stage 2
Motor Trend -drive video/stage 2
For those that haven't seen it before, it's a nice compliment to the previous Car and Driver video just posted.
It features John Heinricey(sp), who heads "GM Performance development" from an engineering standpoint, but he's also a legend on the track. He was personaly responsable for the chassis/engine tuning of the Cobalt SC .......hands on (Nurburgring, Mosport, VIRetc).

I'm an old guy.........sorry, don't know how to post it that way.
Go to Motor trend mag and type "cobalt ss" in the seach area of the home page.
Scroll down a ways and you'll find it. Cobalt stage 2 etc.
That's the best I can do.
There are a couple of driving tips I found helpfull aswell, given this is my first FWD, so it's handling was odd to me at first.

GM has it's own people and facilities to do this, but who knows , they may own LOTUS these days.
No not the chassis, the engine. I thought that when I heard Lotus had it's hands in the Cobalt project to, they are good at chassis and suspension. I'll try to find the article again and post it.
EDIT: Here is one article, there are more though.

Sweet video, but anyone catch his mistake at the end. The whole time they were saying that the Stage 2 gives the car 241hp right? Then at the end he said the open air concept cobalt had the Stage 1 kit, but had 241hp too. The car eaither had less HP or the Stage 2 kit. So he messed up somewhere. Not a big deal, I just pay attention to detail.
FWD, I don't think I'll ever embrace it. It's counter intuitive no matter how hard I try.
I'm not interested in Drag Racing for the most part, so it was nice to see a road racing video that involved true "driving", and how the chassis held up.

It's still a nice vid, even though I have absolutely no interest in road racing.
Drag Racing is where it's at. 99% of all street racing is drag racing, them is the facts.
And besides, with road racing you can make a few mistakes while making the laps and still try to play "catch up" somewhere throughout the race.
In Drag Racing, there's only one lap. So if you make even just one mistake ....
You lose.
That's racing!
IMO this car should of come stock with not only LSD but with STG2. Whatever GM thanks for trying to nickel and dime your customer. Maybe if it did come stock with those options it would of done better in the tuner market as far as competition is concerned.
I suppose the SRT boys are saying that the St. 3 kit and LSD (LSD was not even available until the '03 model) should have been standard for their vehicles as well.
And back in the late 60's, car enthusiasts were probably saying that all of their cars should have come with the Ram Air and the Drag Pack options already installed.
LOLOL
Bottom Line: $750 installed for a warranteed St. 2 is still the bargain of the century.
This is done by ALL of the car manufacturers.

The SRT boys asked for the LSD and in 04 it was standard equipment.
Yes I already knew that, because I actually owned a Black '04 SRT-4!
But I mistakenly typed "LSD was not even available until the '03 model" when what I wanted to say was "LSD was not even available until the '04 model".
Nice catch though ...

He's a ******* SAINT in my world.
A guy that practices what he preaches; His work resulted in Chevrolet de-throning Dodge Vipers in the WSC, AMLS and at LeMans itself with the C5 and C6.
Interestingly (for Canadians), Ron Fellows was/is his right hand man concerneing
this development.
