Okay, so I've talked to a few different people ( outside this forum ) and while not recommended ( please don't laugh ) I'm going to have to ride on this spare for almost a month.

I'm in the military, as an e-3, living on base...and pretty much the majority of my money goes to my car payment, insurance, phone. So!! With that said...I'm pretty much broke and only able to by one tire at a time...of the next...month.

So, what my question is...how long have you/can you ride on the spare before it becomes bad? Most I've heard so far is 75 miles...then :thumbsdow

It's not designed for it.

Put it on the rear to allow your Diff to not have to work against two different size tires.

What happened to your other tire? Can you just get it patched? or maybe even use the fix a flat shit?

I rode with a spare on for about 2 weeks... everything seems fine with it.

Oh I'll take pictures...the inside of the tire ripped apart...So you can see the steel tread very clearly...:cussing:

Sounds like you picked up a nail, then let it go flat, and drove on it once it was flat. I work at a tire shop. Most spare tires are designed for a maximum duty of 50mph for 500miles. If you go faster than that, you will significantly reduce the life of it. Go ahead and put the doughnut to the back like someone else said, even though the doughnut should be pretty close to the same overall diameter as the other tires.

Every three days, check for these things:
1. Tread of at least 1/32. A penny is about this thickness.
2. No cracks or curb damage to the doughnut's tire or wheel.
3. Check the pressure!! If you go a week it will probably be too late, and you won't make it the entire month.

Please don't use fix-a-flat. Suffice to say, that stuff kills your tire, and should only be used in an emergency where all other options are exhausted.
