Went to the dealer today!

I went to the dealer today to show my dad the Cobalt LS...well we walked out of the dealer with me ordering a Chevy Cobalt SS/SC in about eight months or so. Yeah its eight months, but hell I'm willing to wait.

THEN I get the news that the Cobalt SS/SC will end its production of that for the 2008 model year. I was hear broken. My parents supported me on buying the SS/SC and ordering it with my likens, and they loved the car! BUT now there not making them anymore?

What do I do? Do I wait to see if Chevy comes out with another form of Cobalt SS? Or do I just get another car completely.

Here's what my order would have been:

Cobalt SS/SC Black
No Sunroof (hate sunroof's, less problems)
G85 Package
Single Tone Recaro Seats

WHAT DO I DO? I'm so like bummed right now cause I am excited for it, but I guess I'll just have to look at other cars.

You think I'll be able to get an 07 Cobalt SS/SC brand new by this time next year?

ahh taht sucks dude!

get your dealer to work for your sale though. im sure they could find an 07 with your options nearby. are you willing to settle for used? like maybe less than 5000miles? if not then the regular SS is a nice car too. you should take it for a test drive!

good luck with everything

probably not...I'm sure most will be gone. But, if its what you really want than stick with it. But, if you can wait then I'm sure something will be there that you want..good luck!

I'm sure the first quarter of next year there's a possibility they will have them, but other than that I doubt it.

If the Cobalt doesn't work out then I guess I'm looking at a MazdaSpeed3

Oh well. If you have your heart set on this car, there will be slightly used ones available when the time comes.........remember the warranty is long and transferable; and think about the money you'll save.
If your hell-bent for brand new and want to indensure yourself for 5 years, Get a WRX.
That was my alternate pick when shopping but in Canada Subarus' are brutally overpriced.
It's a sweet car (I preffered it actually). The pricing is way better in the U.S.A. and always remember that a SUBARU will hold its value far better than a Chevy down the road.
Good luck.

Good luck.
But also remember, a SUBARU will never be a CLASSIC AMERICAN car... and therefore may not hold it's value as well as the Cobalt

Of course we're talking 30-40 years into the future...or are we, Professor?

Yeah about that, the Cobalt will never be a classic American car either. That would be like me saying that a Civic will be a "Classic Japanese Car". Cobalts and Civics are and always will be econoboxes. Now a few years down the road cars like the GTO, and C5 and C6 Vettes, hell maybe even F-body Camaro's and T/As will be classics. Especially the WS6's and SS's.

Well McFly, whether or not the SC will be an "American Classic" is up to time itself. It's unique, built in small numbers and a super car!

In this case however, it sounds as though this young fella is buying his first "NEW CAR".
In my minds eye, I suspect that he will not covet the car for 40 years. He'll drive the snot out of it ( and take care of it), have some fun and move on to bigger better offerings down the road as he matures. I mentioned the Subaru because they do have an unusually high re-sale value.
Thats it.

Never say never .... Who knows?...The Civic may turn out to be a Japanese classic...

Curious to what others think defines a "classic" car?

Buy an 07 cause you can get a heck of a deal on one, or get a used one.

Or wait for the HHR SS Turbo in '08, Yes it comming, its in the GM ordering program, Prices and options not avail till Sept. starting production Dec.

Why the 8-month wait? Buy one today; there are still SS/SC's on all the dealers lots around here.

Good luck finding and '07 with recaro seats new man. Their pretty much all gone. I don't know how they did it, but my dealer found me one in the color I wanted with recaros. I think its because I wanted Sport Red and their an extra cost color so didn't sell as well. He had to have it shipped in from out of state though.

Cause I'm saving up money till this time next year so my payments are cheaper. My dealer had a 07 Black Cobalt SS/SC w/ Recaros, and G85 Package for 22.5 grand. I can't do much about it now cause I really won't be able to afford it. Besides, the Caliber SRT-4, MS3, and maybe another form of a Cobalt will be out by next year. The Cobalt won't be out this time next year, but if they announce a TC version of the Cobalt, then I will be one of the first one's to buy one.
