So this dude from my work is talking about his car, how its so fast and how it beat this dudes 10 sec eclipse and his friends GTO. I dont beleive him at all but Ill let him talk. The car has like 60,000 miles on it and he has a CAI. He says he can take my car. My car is completely stock. I ran a 14.1 sec 1/4 mile, I dont think he has a chance against me. What do you guys think will I beat him by a mile or does he have a chance against me? Ive never seen one of these race so I dont really know.

 

i dont think he's running 14.1 ... more like 15.1

if he only has a CAI its an easy kill

 

No I ran the 14.1 not him, with all those miles on his car, the way he races it around everywhere and that damn system he has in his trunk I think he could only run a 15.3 at most.

 

they top out at 110-115mph...so anything over that ull win easy

 

The fastest GP runs a 14.5 stock. And thats the 04 and up.

 

i had one with full exhaust, cai, smaller pulley, pcm and i only pulled off a 13.8 so with just a cai you got an easy kill for sure. He is only pushin about 245 horse and he is way heavier as well as an auto.

Also they shut down at 117 unless he has a new pcm but by the sounds of it i doubt it.

you will pull him there all automatic and if he has a system then he might as well not have either an intake or a system bc they cancel each other out , GTP's arent threats unless they have long tubes , an intercooler and a 3.0 pulley then you better watch out , thats a high 12 second car

 

I beat one and I have a 2.4, so I would say you have nothing to worry about

I saw that coming lol. I swear its true though, I dont have video proof, just the fact that I would not lie about a win. His was stock, and I have loads of mods. I just pulled on him about half a car and he couldnt catch up

 

if you drive a 5 speed and you raced from a roll against a stock gtp i can believe that any other senario ,i call bs

 

Well sir, you are dead on lol. About a 20 mph roll, so I was at the meat of first gear and I just pulled hard.

 

Well if he knows how to drive a 5 speed then he should be able to stay close to a gtp if they only run low 15s. I used to have a 2.4 and I ran a 15.3 stock.

 

Be very careful with GTP's from a stop. They put out so much low end torque. 300+lbs

 

yeah, true, but aren't those W-bodies tipping the scale at 3900lbs+
i had a 93 Lumina 3.1L base sedan for a winter beater and for ***** and giggles I ran it across the truck scales at work at it was 3600lbs...

i friend of up here has a SC GTP and although it's not particularly quick, it does have a big fat mid-range that will surprise you, but not beat you. But, his car has 100,000 miles on it, so that's not really fair.

With the mods I have, my car is definitely a 14 second car, and I can drive it pretty well. Had a good teacher, a family friend who used to be a pro drag racer, one of the best actually. But back to the OP, you can definitely handle this dude, especially with a 14.1 1/4!

 

gtp's are cool if you have a **** load of money , cause thats what its gonna take to get going anywhere , the transmission sucks , and will not handle a 12 second daily driver , its not intercooled , i mean i guess you could go with a cam some cheap headers , heads with intake a 3.0 pulley custom tune throttle body 42 lb injectors short stack intercooler and a built tranny , but all that is like 7-9,000 all said and done which is ridiculously expensive

 

Well he wants to race me down 224 which is a very busy street and he hasnt seen me drive through traffic yet. I use all 5 lanes, whatever it takes to win.

He just got this car a month ago and he only put an intake on it, and Im pretty sure hes lying about the GTO cuz they run 13 sec 1/4 miles and theres no way a GTP can run that fast with just an intake. So either hes lying or the GTO sucks at driving.
