how do YOU start your car...

my ss has been giving me a hard time lately and i dont know wtf is going on... guys at the dealershit are saying that supposedly the culprit is the "aftermarket" alarm system (which was already installed when i bought the damn thing) and these cheesedicks are saying that im gonna have to pay for it... but what im really confused about is how the car starts... is it just my car or does anyone elses ss start by pushing in the clutch and just clicking the ignition and letting it start itself OR holding the key down like every other car in existence and starting it up like normal?

I start mine like normal, but by accident I've not turned the key over as far as normal and it still starts. I didnt sound like it liked being started that way though...

yeah i realized the same thing after i bought my car. im about 99 percent sure its an electric starter. bcuz yeah you can just turn the key over and it starts itself without holding it for a while. it also wont double start if its already on, like most normal starting cars with that aweful screeching noise from the starter.

I turn the key forward and let the fuel pump cycle for a couple seconds, then push in the clutch and start her up.

Clutch down, turn the key all the way over and let go...

Theres no need to hold it like pretty much ever other car.

our cars have autostart. just turn the key over to run real quick and release. car will/should start by itself.

I usually just turn the key real quick and release. I no longer hold the key. unless its winter... then its autostart

Yes it has a safety cut off so you don't grind your starter. It is an amazing thing because by habit i occasionally turn the key after I start the car with my auto start

(didn't read the whole thread... but) our cars have an electric start system. you do not need to hold the key turned to fire the ignition like most cars. turn the key just till it stops and release it. the ignition will fire as long as it needs to for the engine to start.

in my experience, the car starts rougher if you hold the key all the way. i find the starts are smoother and it starts quicker if let it do it on its own.

turn the key to the run position. let the fuel pump prime the system. push clutch in, put it in neutral. fire it up

i never really thought about it til i tried to start another car and it didn't, lol. realized i had to hold the key for a bit. a nice luxury that i didn't notice, and take for granted.

You should let the fuel system prime before you crank it. I do the key in then clutch neutral then crank. by the time you put in the clutch and throw it in neutral and foot on the brake the system will be primed 2 seconds max, unless you have a fuel pump going bad.

Have you ever noticed cars that have the "Start" button? I think the S2000 has it. But it is basically the same thing, other than us turning the key vs. pushing a button.

Mine actually starts much smoother if I prime the system first.

Autostart - I noticed that the first time I started the car, actually my hand slipped when I turned the key, but the car still started. I was like , shut it down waited a few minutes and tried it again. Wow, loved it ever since.
