Motor Trend referrences upcoming High-po Cobalt

I was reading the September issue of Motor Trend the other day. It was their annual new car guide issue. Anyways, I was reading the entry for the Cobalt and read this "Drivers Choice: Last year's supercharged SS or the future high-performance version." Anybody know what this is about. Is this referring to the possible turbo or supercharged model? Does this mean that there might be hope for a high-po version other then the 2.4?

The supercharge model has been drop for 2008. It does not meet future EPA emissions standard.

Ok, so I take this to mean that noone has heard anything about an upcoming hi-performance model to replace the current SS/SC. I know that the SS/SC is dead for '08. However, that doesn't mean that there could never be another Supercharged varient ever again.........

Why would they supercharge it when they can just drop in a DI turbo'd eco?

In all seriousness... they are probably referring to the possibility of a 2009 Cobalt with the Turbo motor from the HHR SS.

That would be my serious guess, after GM announces whether or not the squirrels went to rehab.

I heard from a guys cousins aunt who works at the assymbly line in Lordstown that GM decided not to do the LS9 in the next Vette but will test it in the Cobalt instead.

I also heard the squirrels rumor, but the motor from the HHR SS seems more logical.

You guys are idiots. The new model is coming with a flux capacitor so it can stop time and do the quarter mile before it ever starts.

Honestly, that could be bad ass. A diesel 2.4 could put out 500 ft/lbs, which would more than overcome the added weight.
