How To - SS/SC CD console lights custom tinted

I saw a how to on the forum and started to follow it until i realized that his was a older model or different deck than mine so I had to wing it with the stuff I borrowed from his how to:

--------------------------------------------------

Disclaimer: Same as the others ppl. Neither I nor Cobaltss.net are liable if you mess this up.

This is a great mod to do on a weekend when you decide to do your interior trim - I didnt know / think / see the other how to until after I had painted my interior trim but I plan to change it again with some carbon fibre vinyl from Crappy Tire...

---------------------------------------------------

Dificulty: Novice

Time: 1 - 2 hours including drying time

What You Need:

PATIENCE - these interior panels and the screws / circut board can take a bit of coaxing to make it pop out.
1 can of Krylon Stained Glass Translucent Spray Paint.

----------------------------------------------------

Step 1: Remove the interior moldings - I found working the passenger side then the driver side to work easier then go to the middle. disconnect the heated seats if you have them.

Step 2: Bolts on either side of the head unit are 7mm. disconnect to cords.

Step 3: there are 2 screws / side on the head unit.

Step 4: remove the screws from the circut board and carefully push on the power and equalizer not button and it will pop out with gentle force.

Step 5: remove the buttons - push from the rear of the face plate and the buttons will pop out easily.

Step 6: wrap each button in painter tape to ensure you dont ruin the front face.

Step 7: Tint with the Stained glass spray tint - I found 2 coats were enough to get the desired effect. While your tinting if you want to ensure the steadiness and color matching of this process pop them back in and hold a flashlight or treble behind them and vola u can see the desired effect.

Step 8: Reinstall and hook everything back in place and then wait till dusk / darkness and see your new tinted cd lights.

Please be aware the reason the Power and Note button are not tinted is because they are soddered to the board - I'm not about to mess that heavily with the electrical just yet.

This is a work in progress and as I figure our how to take some of the switches apart I'll do the same with them.

Thanks Guys ^_^ I was really happy with the way that turned out... its dwarfed at the moment by the large amout of stock color still inside but slowly it will look much better.
