Warped Rotors??

My SS has just a tick over 1300 miles on it so far... when I first picked her up I noticed a slight vibration when stopping from speeds over 50MPH, figured it was maybe the roads I drive on since it didn't happen all the time... In the past week or so it's gotten a lot worse. I believe that the rear rotors are warped, and were that way from the factory. The vibration typically starts at the rear of the car and works it's way forward as you apply the breaks. The dealer should fix this under warranty, right??

I would call and ask your service manager. It should be covered. Never the less take it in and get it checked ASAP. Problems with brakes are not something to brush off.

You can try, but they may not. I know if you drive through the rain, and hot rotors get wet, they can warp. The dealer may consider that to be a normal wear item.

Good-luck though! Hopefully they replace them free of charge.

we had posts about this long ago, check your torque on the wheel lugs. some people were finding they were not torqued properly causeing the tires to shudder durring braking. hope this helps, but also i agree with above poster, the more rotor shown in rainy snowy weather, hot rotors, more likely to warp. also, i believe the torque on those lugs is 100 ft lbs....anybody agree or disagree??

Thumbs up Fixed.

Just to finish this thread off.... I finally had a chance to take the car in today. Took it to Parks Chevrolet, right down the road. After I explained the vibrations they tested it and ended up resurfacing the rotors. Drove it home and everything seems to be fine now. The problem was fixed under warranty and the only cost to me was the gas to get there.

the dealership i was at usually would cut (resurface) the rotors if the car had minimal milage...and most other dealerships will cover it under warrenty...if not they are ********.....my car has the same milage and i have a pull to the left....so if mine needs an alignment which is a maintanance issue...they better cover it being that i drove it off the lot like that. if your dealer does not cover the repair...CALL GM! as with any brake problems you encounted will low milage...

Gm is known to manufacture the shittiest rotors on the face of the planet. so just beware...
