Stage 2 SS/SC dyno 131whp!!!!!
Stage 2 SS/SC dyno 131whp!!!!!
Okay guys, its me again, and we have a serious problem. I'm the guy that had the overboosting problem for two months due to a disconnected boost actuator. (dealers fault)
I'm also the guy that got beat by a stock RSX type S and a stock SS/SC. I've had compression tests, coolant carbon tests, GM tech diagnostics, etc etc and nothing has shown irregular. There is NO check engine light and I hit 15 psi at redline.
Well, to prove that i wasn't going crazy. I took the car to Carter Racing in Savannah, GA to put it on there Dynamics Dyno. This is the exact same dyno that a stg 2 SS/SC put down 220whp a few weeks back. The 220hp was on the stage 2 tune, they didn't have hptuners at the time.
My baseline was 131 whp. After 2 and a half hours of tuning, they got me up to 147hp.
What on earth can cause a car to dyno 90 less horsepower with the exact same mods? Please help, any suggestions are welcome.
But do remember the car passed a compression test with 150psi on all four cylinders and the coolant doesn't contain any carbon (which happens if your head gasket fails).

not just less than stock, about 75whp less than stock. The previous stage 2 owner got 220whp in like 100 degree weather. It was 76 degrees at the time i got mine.
Some people have suggested the head gasket may be blown and its leaking cylinder to cylinder instead of outside the block.
Also, my hp numbers are alarmingly accurate to a base model cobalt. So perhaps a failed blower??? But could i still hit 15psi with a blower failure??

try this.
Unhook the blower anf test, see what you get. if its even with the initial tests...then you got the answer.
Check the head.
compression check
Make sure your running on all cylinders.
boost leaks after the gauge?

it is running on all cly because the obdII would kick the light.
If they did a carbon test then it is not bad head gasket.
i would def check vac leak after the gauge sounds most likely.
also check to see if all injectors are working.
but my main concern would be clogged converters see them all the time where i work.
they usually won't even kick the light on which is the funny thing.
oh and to all the guys saing stock hp, stock ratings are done on the flywheel not on the wheels so our 220 or whatever stock is not 220 to the wheels probably around 180 or so
