Stage 2 blue bolts finally off and 2.85 on!

After breaking the bit trying to remove them on the car and torching them on the car we finally did it the right way off the car.

After pulling the S/C off the car and working on the bench we drilled the bolt heads until the spun off and then removed the stage 2 pulley. We still could not remove what was left of the 4 threaded shanks from the hub. Got the torch out and after torching it until shanks were red hot they finally came loose. It was unbelievable how those suckers were cemented and torqued down.

So Nates 2.85 pulley is now on.

goddamn... I hope you didn't warp the hub man, or the heat travel down the shaft of the s/c and cook the oil in there.... not a wise decision man, Last time I had that problem a pair of griplocks worked like a charm

I had the same problem. Two of them came out with the sc on the car. The other two turned out to be a major pia. Had to pull the sc and destroyed the stage 2 pulley to get them out. And they were coated with blue loctite. But yea, nowhere in the stage 2 install instructions does it say to loctite them. The gm techs suck for doing that.

No the hub didnt warp and the S/C snout didnt get very hot as it was wrapped in a cold water towel and it stayed just fine and could be touch bare handed after done torching. That hub is thick and it did get damn hot but when spun it looked perfectly fine.

Vice grips still didnt break loose what was left of the threadad portion left in the hub without heating it. At that point I didnt care anymore as I was getting the damn bolts out period with that torch.

FYI, the hub is NOT available through GM either serperatly if you mess it up.

Thanks...Nate, it was making a nice paper weight for a month or so....Oh I was curious if all the pulley bolts you sell are the same length? They only threaded 1.5 turns tight. I would have liked at least 3 turns on bolts that size.

It does look really good on there, plus my son got a crash course on r/r'ing a s/c, drilling, torching, plug changing a few choice words here and there and how to lose a throttlebody gasket in the process.

Headed in Friday to dyno it and get some afr readings and injector duty cycle numbers to make sure all is well and if not do a tune on it and a possible injector upgrade.

Me and YELLERCOLT just swapped pullies today from the S2 to Nate's 2.8 and 2.85. Yeller works at a dealership, and we used a hand impact (you put the bit on it and tap the back with a hammer while you loosen the bolts.) They all came right out with NO problems at all. We had both S/C's off, pullies swapped, and everything back on in about 30 minutes. Nate's pullies FN rock!!!

Yup thats what they looked like length wise. My hub threads do not start on the very edge surface I dont think and are countersunk a little bit so the bolt loses some threads from the get go in the transistion area and thats why they only required 1.5 turns (about 2 threads worth) to torque them down....

It will work just fine as I blue loctited them down!

Excellant product and finish!
