BriantheLion26 08-08-2007, 10:16 AM i was wondering my car bogs in 2nd gear from 2 to 3 thousand rpms and sometimes in first as well does any one no what this could be... Listing your mods would help. What are you doing when it bogs? WOT from 2-3 thousand? cobi 08-08-2007, 10:16 AM If you've got it at WOT its because your rpms are to low. Downshift. Silver SS 08-08-2007, 10:20 AM im completly stock... its not my rpms being to low cuz i tried it on my brothers cobalt and nothing happends...its when im driving normal at around 2 before 3 it bogs/ give like 3jerks untill getting to 3 thousand and then the car goes on... it also happens more often if i flooor the gas peddle DarkSergeant 08-10-2007, 03:13 PM I don't know how these work, but I'd say maybe something to do with your intake manifold controls? Does it ever open up? What if you start in 2nd? MetalicSilverBullet 08-13-2007, 11:44 AM I am having the same issue with mine i first though it was me screwing up shifting. But since i have done a K&N air filter mod i have not noticed it any more. I think it probally has to do with small restricted intake. just a guess but i did notice an improvement in bog. I have also heard that the stage two kit gets rid of it to. -=Markus=- 08-15-2007, 10:08 AM Guys. Not 100% sure on this but it happens to me too. Right after I installed the S2 Kit. I'm thinkin it's a too much fuel not enough air issue. GM's tune makes the car rich especially with the S2 kit and when you're at a low RPM there's not enough air to mix properly. cobi 08-15-2007, 11:02 AM Guys. GM's tune makes the car rich especially with the S2 kit and when you're at a low RPM there's not enough air to mix properly. The S2 tune is only rich up top, down low its fine as far as A/F goes. matthew_m034 10-12-2007, 02:49 PM I have this saaaaaaaaame problem! youthink that its an airflow problem? I installed cold air hoping that it would help the problem(it was happening before then) and now it is still the same, except that I now smell heavy gas fumes. what the duece? my car is also completely stock for except for the cold air. AaronSS06 10-22-2007, 08:12 PM :cssNET: i had the same problem. so i took it to the dealership and they took a look at it. the intake manifold gasket failed. they promised me my car back 2day. :guns: :twothumbs :cssNET: matthew_m034 10-23-2007, 10:10 AM what was the ultimate effect of the intake manifold gasket failing? and how do i know if that might be my problem as well? AaronSS06 10-23-2007, 10:51 AM Trust me just take it into the dealer and have them take a look at it. if you let it go longer it will be coming out of your pocket. my car was doing the same thing. it hesitate in 1st and 2nd. then the CEL light came on saying that there was a problem with the Mass Airflow Sensor. So i called up my buddy and he said that one of the gaskets prolly failed. so i took it in and thats what it was. kellyj 10-29-2007, 09:23 AM Hey, Just so you modded peoples know it's not your mods, my wife has a completly stock LT automatic that is having the same issue. We took it in 2-3 months ago and they couldn't find anything wrong with it...They flashed the computer and sent us on our way. The issue seemed to go away for a few weeks, but has been getting pretty bad over the past couple of week. We will be taking it in again soon, I'll let you all know what happens firemanfrank 10-29-2007, 12:16 PM This also happens to me on occasion, but I'm not concerned. There's no cel lit, so it can't be an intake manifiold gasket. A damaged intake manifold gasket would certainly throw a cel ... AaronSS06 10-29-2007, 03:49 PM Actually when my CEL light went on i Scanned it and it came up as the MAF sensor. i thought that it was a vacuum leak. But i was wrong i took it into the Dealer and they found out that the intake manifold gasket failed. I was having the same boging issue. But after they changed the Gasket I havent had problem since. redssuperman 11-25-2007, 05:43 AM i have a 07cobalt ss/sc 14,100 miles and im have the same boging problem. the only thing i'vedone so far is mod air box and put a k&n filter on it. im taking it to the dealership to have them check it out. Better Maxim 03-04-2008, 04:41 AM OK i don't exactly know what bogging means but I've been having this issue which seems to be caused by my supercharger... When i floor it around 2krpm (i know its low) the supercharger kicks in a little and then around 2.5krpm it hesitates alittle...feels kinda like it is out of breath and needs a break and then starts up stronger..... Is that what bogging is?? or am i talking about something totally different? domin8_gt 03-04-2008, 08:15 AM Good question. I'd love to know what everybody means by bogging too. I'm having a problem where I'll be between 2000-3000 rpms and floor it. I have this problem where it feels like the fuel flow was interrupted for a split second and then the car fixes itself before I have time to do anything. I don't have CELs or warning messages on the DIC. My mods are in my sig. roadrage06 03-04-2008, 08:53 AM im completly stock... its not my rpms being to low cuz i tried it on my brothers cobalt and nothing happends...its when im driving normal at around 2 before 3 it bogs/ give like 3jerks untill getting to 3 thousand and then the car goes on... it also happens more often if i flooor the gas peddle the only time most people, including myself experience this is when you have an intake and it gets wet. It draws moisture onto the MAF... and then crazy shit happens. I don't know what the technical reasons are, but it cuts power. but you say you're stock, so... CASH IN ON THAT WARRANTY! Better Maxim 08-08-2008, 07:52 PM I think all of our superchargers do this between 2 and 3k rpm... Its just the supercharger building up more power, so it hesitates but i'm almost positive its normal. cobalt143 08-12-2008, 08:18 PM Well, try this for size. I have the S2 kit, K&N, & custom exhaust no cat. Never had bogging issues until I hit a bump, 1ft into the air i went, afterwards, my cruise no longer works, and I get bogging in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd below 1500 rpms, and 4th below 2500rpms. What can this be? redtoptech 08-19-2008, 12:51 AM "Bogging" is when there is to much load on the motor for it to accelerate smoothly. A good example would be if you were going up a steap incline in 5th gear at 45 miles per hour. The engine would make a distinct sound. The condition which is being discribed is "stutter." A vacuum leak is a common cause of a stutter Better Maxim 08-26-2008, 09:06 PM Vacuum leak? Like somewhere in the intake? or where would you look for this leak? joey3002 03-20-2009, 09:26 AM I just took my 2007 SS into the shop last night for this very same thing. Its all stock, they replaced the exhaust last year. All you guys that took it into the shop, what did they fix and did they fix it? thanks joey3002 03-20-2009, 04:07 PM dealer called.. mech said the bogging/pulsing is normal for ss basically, when i shift UP, and release the clutch, and press the gas, it has a 3x pause/stutter. then it takes off.. going to attempt fuel filter this weekend.. anyone have this and then fix it somehow? thanks [edit] forgot to add, I asked the guy about a k1 air filter and was told he has seen alot of cobalts come in with bad air sensors. they were being blown from these?? is he blowing smoke up my arse.. FredSpecial 07-12-2009, 06:55 PM anyone figure this out? i have a redline doing this and it is bogging/sputtering bad around 3k under moderate acceleration. I checked the plugs and am not throwing any CEL codes. I have custom tune with 2.9 and 42lbs injectors and a CAI. Any ideas? 09blackonblack 07-16-2009, 10:03 AM i have an 09 2.2 and it does the same thing. do your guys bog down on take off? JHans5774 07-20-2009, 11:51 PM What dealership helped you guys out with this because my 06 is doing the same thing and they are giving me a load of shit that the throttle body is dirty and thats why its happening well they cleaned it and I am still having the same problem FredSpecial 07-21-2009, 02:05 PM do you have an upgraded intake? JHans5774 07-21-2009, 05:59 PM Yeah all I have is a cold air not sure what brand the guy before me took all the stickers off it FredSpecial 07-21-2009, 08:16 PM have you tried cleaning the filter and the MAF? JHans5774 07-22-2009, 05:56 PM Yeah I just replaced the filter and they said they cleaned the MAF it helped it but still does it a little could it be dirty injectors i just replaced the fuel filter |
