Rising Insurance for Cobalt Owners?!?
Rising Insurance for Cobalt Owners?!?
Well I got my bill for my insurance yesterday... and all I have to say is WTF?
First off i'll explain myself. I am a 19 year old who lives at home, and is under my parents on insurance, but I am on my Cobalt. I pay every 6 months for insurance, and I used to pay $1069 every 6 months. I got my bill this time and it was over $1400! I was like WTF?
So my mom called the insurance guy and he said that because when I bought the car, it was so new, that not that many people had them and they were in a pretty low insurance bracket. Well with rising sales to young people, and all of the "race and speeding related accidents," the SS/SC jumped up a few brackets, and now all insurance companies are going to raise the insurance on these cars.
Anyways, my mom moved me off my car and on to an older vehicle at my house to save me a **** load of money, but not all people will have that option.
I just thought I would give people a heads up, im not sure how much of what my insurance guy said is true, but I go through Country, so beware.
Aj

Yup dude...it sucks...
Doesn't matter, it still adds to the pile
He didn't have a wreck - and didn't file a claim with his insurance company

It's just probability and statistics. There is a bad reputation/association with Cobalt owners and it keeps getting worse. I'm surprised it doesn't apply to the SRT-4...I would imagine the accidents/claims in that car would be equal to the Cobalt...I guess not
i dont understand it either, it seems like once a week someone on the srt forums either totals their car ot totals it and even dies.
haha im only 18 and the car is in my name under my parents policy and mine is only 90 a month.... so im not sure why that is im sure i can afford it if it goes up a little....its kinda wierd beucase my 1999 rodeo was about 150 a month....oh well im not going to argue

Try living in Jersey. Our state is one of the highest car insurance rated states in the country. I'm 27 and "technically" still married so my insurance is a bit cheaper though, not to mention that I have military car insurance. USAA FTMFW!!
When I first bought my G5, my insurance went up to $1650 for 6 months. This last time around, it was $1500, and I hope it keeps going down.
I'm 20 years old with my own policy and a clean record. I just took defensive driving, which is supposed to lower rates in this state. Hopefully, I see a difference on the next payment.
