2008 cobalt Sport pricing

Ok im thinking about getting a 2008 cobalt sport which should be the same as 2007 cobalt SS 2.4. I was wondering will it be possible if i could get a 2008 cobalt Sport 2.4 fully loaded (auto,XM,Onstar,Premium sound system,Leather, Sunroof,Fully Loaded) for about 18 or 18.5 after rebates? i believe i can get a GMS discount and my mom and dad can get the GM supplier discount. I was offered a 2007 cobalt SS 2.4 for 17.6 and it was fully loaded except for Onstar. I offered them 17.3 and them throw in a SS/SC wing they wouldnt do it. The Onstar i would really like to have but the other 2 things was 4 hour drive and it has been setting on the lot for over a year now.

I don't think GM will be doing many rebates on the 08's right out the door. I'd go for a leftover 07... they'll be cheap.

Yep, you could probably go pick up an 07 today with everything but the wing for that price. The wing you can get for another 500 if you get it from the dealer, or much cheaper if you shop around.

Oh... forgot to mention... the one reason I'd get a 07 instead of a 08... dual catalytic converters which means less power in the 08's. Gotta love these damn emissions standards. They're always making the new cars cleaner... but I guess noone pointed out that it isn't the new cars that are making all the smog.

Every time I see a POS oil burner go by I shake my head... and here's the best thing... most states don't even check for emissions anyways.

^ Yep, and you can likely find a G5 GT on the lot with the wing on it since it is a common dealer option for that car.

Another option.. Go pick up an SS/SC?

Edit - And Raineman, you are absolutely right. The emissions difference between the SS/SC and a Prius are negligible.. especially when stacked against an 87 Aerostar.

1SP.. wonder if they'll have higher ones.

Edit - and this may be a repost, but apparently the "Mercury-Sun" has driven a car that doesn't exist.

Got mine 3 months ago for $17,100. With rebates including $500 competition trade in. 5spd, only options were smokers package and sunroof. Got that nice 5.xx (something) apr as well. Lets just say my credit is less than steller..so I was happy

Actually it says the SS will be the Sport - but nothing about the SC being dropped. I bet they re-ran an old article for some reason.. considering they talk about the ss/sc like it hasn't been around for 3 years.

Also they wont have rebates on the 08's for at least 6 months, they dont rebate brand new cars. Unless its teh dealer desprate to sell something.
