Spark Plugs for high boost application - asked the experts !
I just e-mail Hahn Racecraft to ask them what plugs they use for high boost application. So they answered :
"NGK plugs or Nippon/Denso plugs is all we use (up to 30psi). We just use the standard copper, and change them once or twice at year."
Also, Kenne Bell (on their web site) states that the plugs to be used on a supercharged vehicle are :
-One heat range cooler than stock. Denso U-Groove plugs (standard plug) work very well for us. Avoid Platinum plugs. Always set gaps at .035".
ALSO please read this important article from Kenne Bell :
http://www.kennebell.net/techinfo/ge...SPARKPLUGS.pdf
Also, Intense Racing states for the LSJ :
"The stock spark plugs for the LSJ motor are NGK PFR6T-10G platinum plugs. Platinum and iridium plugs are much harder and more expensive metals that can last up to 100,000 miles however they are not the best metal for heat dissipation. In our experience copper based plugs are far superior in supercharged applications and while they may not last as long as platinum or iridium plugs they will offer better performance. In addition to being copper based these plugs are also one heat range cooler than stock which helps reduce the possibily of detonation and the resulting knock retard.
Finally, I saw on a Denso Iridium web site that a too small electrode have more difficulty to dissipate heat.

Obviously it's 100% the plugs but you want 1 step colder plugs anyway.
Another thing it could be is a lean code because of your intake but the stage 2 reflash is upposed to get rid of it.
I'm running the ZEX plugs now and i'm getting knock during shifts. It could be the heat but the NGK's worked so well for me, i'm going back to them.
If you need any help swaping plugs let me know i'll do it for you.
As soon as it comes time to change plugs i'm going back to the NGKs.
They were great plugs. I'm curious to see what the ZEX plugs are going to look like after I pop them out.
07BaltSS should get colder plugs. I'm curious to see if that helps. It should.
0.35 ws useless for me, i was blowing out spark like crazy, even at .032 i was having issues near redline, messed with spark dwell on hpt and have the bkr7es gapped at .030 and its perfect.
this is pushing about 16-18 pounds of boost depending on the weather.

yep i have an ingalls too, definately causes a little phantom knock between shifts.
Im really happy with my NGK coppers too.
just checked them and altered my gap the other day. 15000kms on them and the tips are in perfect shape. nice soft brown coloring.

Yep, ingalls ETD set really squishy @ 14. I'm sure it's phantom knock.

i have the ingalls set at its tightest and front and rear motor mounts, i get no phantom knock.......
i have the ngk 7's gapped at .36
i have said the exact same thing that the "experts" said for many years
When I watch the gauge I only see knock during shifts. From .3 to 1.8 or so.
