Anyone near Norwalk Raceway Park?
Im heading to Norwalk, OH for a drag race first weekend in September...wondering if anyone is near there and knows of anything fun to do around there since I'll be there for a few days....one of my favorite tracks by far, always do good there. Thanks for the help!
ryan.
Since NHRA bought the track, they had to make some more minor improvements to it. It was and still is one of the best tracks in the country!! It will spoil you actually, once you've been there. Don't forget to buy the pound of ice cream for a buck!! Is there a special event going on the first weekend of September?

First weekend in September is the Ten Grand Nationals. ($10,000 to win Fri, Sat & Sun)
I have been there a few times with the junior dragster, but thats going back about 7 years ago

This will be the first trip there with the dragster...back when my brother and I raced junior dragsters, I believe I was about 15, they came around each morning and served breakfast on golf carts...they'd drive from trailer to trailer with coffee, hot chocolate and donuts for all the racers...now thats spoiled!

The dragster is a 2000 Race Specialties chassis, the chassis maker was the one who built all our juniors ( we had several ) and he no longer makes full size chassis, just juniors, so they are rare...we run a Reher Morrison 540BBC that runs 7.50's at about 180mph
I'd try to hit the Rock n Roll HOF in Cleveland and the bars in the Flats close to it. If you like fish get some Lake Erie Walleye, good stuff.
Everyone is telling you how nice the track is, which it really, really, really is.
But you asked what the hell there is to do....Since I moved to the area a year and a half ago these are the things I'd suggest:
• Cedar Point in 20 minutes from Norwalk in Sandusky. Catch a starlight pass for 1/3 the price and skip 1/3 of the lines....
•The best place to party is the islands... hop a ferry to Put-In-Bay (large and wild) or Kelley's Island (smaller but just as drunk). Just don't miss the boat back or you will be sleeping on a park bench if the hotels don't have vacancy.
•Friday night if the "booze cruise" is still running (may be closed for the season) head downtown Sandusky to Jackson St. Pier and buy a ticket for the 7 or 9 p.m. boat. Float over to Kelleys on the on the water bar. (not for folks who can't hold their booze or have seasickness issues).
To clarify, the post above was posted by Dark Sergeant's wife, not him. I drive to Sandusky to work.
