- Chrysler's Street and Racing Technology (SRT)(R) organization continues
the popular SRT legacy
- Dodge Caliber SRT4 delivers SRT mission of benchmark performance for the
best price to the sport-compact market

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Dodge announced pricing
today for the latest addition to Chrysler's popular Street and Racing
Technology (SRT)(R) vehicle lineup - the all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber
SRT4(R).

Boasting 285 horsepower, 265 lb.-ft. of torque and a 0-60 mph time in
the low 6-second range, the all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 is available
for $22,995, which includes $560 for destination. The 2008 Dodge Caliber
SRT4 once again delivers the SRT mission of benchmark performance at the
lowest price.

"Like all of Chrysler's SRT vehicles, the all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber
SRT4 delivers customers an unmatched performance/value equation," said Mike
Accavitti, Director - Dodge Brand and SRT Marketing Communications,
Chrysler. "With 285 horsepower, 265 lb.-ft. of tire-smoking torque, and
numerous functional, race-inspired exterior and interior appointments,
Dodge and SRT have once again boldly joined the sport-compact performance
market in dominating fashion."

The all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 showcases the renowned, five key
aspects of any SRT vehicle: exterior styling that resonates with the brand
image; race-inspired interiors; world-class ride and handling
characteristics across a broad range; benchmark braking; and standout
powertrain. The all-new 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 unquestionably delivers in
all five areas.

Exterior styling includes an aggressive SRT stance, a front fascia with
functional brake cooling ducts and a larger grille opening. The unique hood
features a functional air scoop enhancing underhood cooling. A large
integrated spoiler above the rear glass is tuned for smoother air flow and
lift reduction. Available exterior colors are Brilliant Black, Sunburst
Orange, Bright Silver and Inferno Red.

Inside, the all-new Caliber SRT4 boasts sport seating with deep,
performance bolsters, an SRT race-inspired instrument design, and an
optional Reconfigurable Display (RCD), with exclusive "performance pages"
that provide lateral and longitudinal G-force, 1/8-mile and 1/4-mile
acceleration time and speed, 0-60 mph time and braking distance.

The Dodge Caliber SRT4's suspension is lowered 28mm in the front and
22mm in the rear, contributing to the unique SRT performance ride and
handling characteristics. Chassis highlights include unique performance
tuning, 19-inch cast-aluminum wheels and Goodyear three- or four-season
performance tires.

Benchmark braking is delivered via four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes
with 340 x 28mm vented front rotors and 302 x 10mm rear rotors, with
twin-piston aluminum front calipers.

And finally, a whopping 285 horsepower and tire-smoking 265 lb.-ft. of
torque is delivered courtesy of Chrysler's 2.4-liter DOHC I-4 Turbo World
Engine. An electronically tuned Brake Lock Differential and Getrag DMT-6
six- speed transmission help put the power to the ground.

2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 Pricing:
The 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT4 is well-equipped and has a U.S. MSRP of
$22,995 (including $560 destination).

well with only 148 posts under your belt it wont hurt much to GTFO then will it.
what a shock a cobaltss fansite has people who are biased to their own car.

oh and just for the record....the caliber is ******* ugly. and that has nothing to do with being an ss fanboi.

ugly is ugly.

argh i didnt mean this to turn into a hate forum! but i like the looks of it actually, it fits my lifestyle well with plenty of cargo room.

and its going to be funny when i blow by a cobalt even with a stage two kit...i bought srt4 for 23k, stock, and a cobalt with over grand in upgrades gets beat by a "so called van"

i love ya'll, but come on, god for bid dodge gives power to their vehicles...well if you all hate the looks, then one less person with an srt4

148 post???? well i suppose that would hurt if your post count actually meant something in the real world.

anyway, given the direction in brutishly aggresive styling that dodge is assuming with all its new vehicles this one fits right in. looks like it screams get the **** outta my way.

Honestly I can see you coming in here and comparing the Neon SRT4 to our cars as they're both sport compacts, but the Caliber is a different class of vehicle entirely.
I'm sure it's going to be pretty badass, but you really should go bug the HHR websites about how much better this will be than the HHR SS.

Personally I think the Caliber looks like ****.. even with the SS trim on it. It reminds me of a soccer mom's car.. however the interior is pretty sick, I'd trade interiors anyday
The extra HP and TQ doesn't matter to me. If you're than concerned then do some mods to your cobalt and kick it's ass.. our cars look much nicer on the outside, and I still love to hear my car whine like a bitch!

it says its got 285 hp and 265 tq and does 0-60 in the low 6 second range. the cobalt does that with 205 hp and 200 tq. where is the falling short part?

its more of a competitor for the HHR SS

but the supercharged can probably beat it considering it has a 0-60 time in the low 6s

the stock sssc has that, and stage 2 surpasses that

nice find though, finally realized what SRT stands for, do the numbers stand for the cyclinders?

e.g.: srt4 and srt8 but they dont have an srt6?

Yeah u gotta be careful what u say about a cobalt on a forum. especially on a cobalt forum.. thats like going to Harlem NY and saying I think N***ers are Ugly... Ur gonna get jumped like you just did. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on whatever they want.. in your case OP... u think the Caliber is hott. Well my opinion is Its ugly.. And your already saying its going to be faster than a stg2 cobalt!!!! LOL!!!! To me you sound alot like the Mazda speed 3 forums... Just because its rated at 268hp doesnt mean its to the wheels... same as goes for the caliber... its heavy.. and 300hp... thats like a fat kid running in Nike shoes...

Ok When I run 12's with my setup and put it on video for you then will you shut your mouth? By the way the 273 hp is whp so at crank with 15% loss its 313.95 hp..... and you were saying? U should also get that caliber then come down here to Florida so I could rape you and put it on youtube.

I didn't know the Cobalt's "competition" extended to small crossover SUVs, regardless of H.P.

I don't care which car is faster; I've said it about 20 times already - if I was still concerned about beating Timmy down at the high school I would have gotten a Viper. The Caliber never has interested me; I don't like the plasticy Dodge interiors, or their dealer service personnel, or the fact that they are a product of the Daimler-Chrysler abortion of a merger. I wasn't in the market for a station wagon or whatever its called. Does that make me a Cobalt fanboy?
