Will you trade your SS/SC for '08 SS/T?

As the title says, I am wondering how many here will want to trade their SS/SC for the LNF version if/when it comes out.
I, for one, believe that there is sufficient proof that the car will be an '08 model, but it hasn't been officially announced yet by GM, so we don't know when we can actually buy one.

If you haven't heard, the LNF engine is turbod and puts out 260HP and 260lb/ft torque, including monster mid range power because of the twin-scroll turbo design. It will likely be cheaper to mod the turbo engine to get even more power. With direct injection the SS/T will get better gas mileage than the SS/SC.

My '05 was mostly stock when I sold it. I sold it cause I got a price I couldn't refuse. I'd been planning a twinscrew kit and LSD for the '05 and with supporting mods was going to spend about $5K. Once I got enough facts that I could be 95% sure the new car would be built I realized I'd be better off to keep that money, sell mine and get the new car. BTW, I believe that with a cat-back and CAI the LNF will give me all the power I could want.

Second question: What changes would you like to see in the new car? For example, I think they should bring back the Recaros or use the seats from the HHR SS (which they will likely do). Get rid of the non-functional high wing and give us something that doesn't slow the car down!

What are your ideas??

I think I would trade my 2.4 in for the ss/t if it comes out. They should do away with the big wing and use the ss/na wing it looks way better, I would like them to keep those color inserts in the seats thats hot lookin.

If they were to put this motor in the cobalt i'd be willing to bet it would be after the new camaro hits showroom floors.

It's twin scroll

And I don't believe you will see an 08. If this engine will be in a Cobalt, it will be for 09. But from what I get told from different sources, the Cobalt is done after 08. The Cobalt replacement will have the LNF. The HHR SS will be the road test vehicle for GM on the LNF for FWD Delta. Much as the Redline was for the Cobalts.

No, never in hell. Forget turbos. Soon the SS/tc will be filled with ******** that will make us all look bad and a bunch of jerks who just want a turbo 4-cyl will have it, and a whole bunch more people will have the ss/tc, as everyone ******' loves turbo cars.

Because its cheaper, easier, and more reliable to get 400whp+ from a 4 banger with a Turbo

Okay... the SS/TC Cobalt won't be a 2008 model... it will be 2009. I just nabbed the most recent issue of C&D that lists every model available for 2008. The article it has says the SS designation is on a 1 year hiatus... it'll be back for 2009.

That's fine, I'm more about being unique, everyone either talks about going turbo or has a turbo already. Rarely you hear about SC's. Yeah turbos are more efficient and all that jazz, but whatever. I love the LNF engine, its fast, has VVT, and runs on 20 PSI of boost Thats a whole lot of PSI, too much to me. Still, I would rather have a Sky Redline and have a turbocharged RWD than have a turbo'd FWD. I prefer the LSJ a whole bunch more.

From now on it will be, "Oh wait till my turbo kicks in" "So I raced a supercharged ss, and I lost because I had boost leak. Supercharged cobalts suck, turbos are better" blah blah blah. It will lead to fights and a bunch of stupid unnecessray ****, and I'll get tired of seeing cobalt ss/tc's as they will be ******' everywhere when they're turboed, I like seeing the ss/sc rarely.

Not sure on my part. We (me and my wife) usually trade one of our cars in every 2 or 3 years. We are not sure what we want. Our choices prob will be the Camaro convertible or anything convertible or the SS/Tc Cobalt.

As of now, not sure. Still have 1 1/2 years left.

I guess if you're going drag racing you might need all that power and torque that the LNF will provide....
but, geeze my SC is plenty fast and I can't even get all that power to the ground!! I auto-x and have to constantly feather the throttle... I will definitely get a LSD unit if I keep the car!

Right now my I've had my SC up to 148 w/ more available.... do I really need more in a world of 65 mph highways?
Also, I really dig the whine of the supercharger.... it's just so unique! and it turns heads

When the LNF version does come out, my SC will be considered slow
I guess I'll just have to live w/ never being the fastest....

Just order the LNF from the 2008 HHR SS... it'll drop right in. The HHR is on the same platform as the Cobalt.

As to when the car might come out, there was a thread here a few weeks ago with GM parts guys posting pages from the Cobalt parts book showing specific parts and p/ns for an '08 LNF version. Some of the people I've talked with say that GM never shows a parts listing for a car they won't build. So I think we can assume it will be an '08 model.

I've heard 2nd quarter '08 release, but that is pure speculation, just guesswork. Maybe an '08.5?

My point there was that with my car I decided to sell it and put the mod money toward the new one. I won't have to mod the new car to get the power I want and will have a brand new car with a brand new warranty. Modding my '05 would have thrown away the substantial powertrain warranty I had left.

I will prolly trade in my 2.2 for the SS/tc just cause I want the luxury's of the SS with the 5speed tranny. It is not an option for my to trade towards the SS right now but by 09 It will be.

I agree. I live near Akron and I see 1 or 2 others a week, maybe...and usually those are the same cars.

Trade in? No.
Do I want the Cobalt SS/Turbo? Yes!!
Will I sell my car? That's yet to be determined. If I do, I will defenately be taking some things off the car before I sell it.!!
Changes I would like to see? Hmm...
How about some factory projectors and dual LED tailights this time. An interior with some color matching added and the elimination of wheel hop. The SS/SC spoiler is fine, they just need to lower it about an inch 1/2. Some 18x8 wheels shodded with 235/40/18 would be nice. A six speed paddle shifter and an optional touch screen navigation audio system. A G6 sunroof along with the dial control. Bigger trunk opening.
