Think about it this way, that cool looking delorean car only went from 0-60 in about 10 seconds. i always found that interesting cause it looked pretty cool. NJHK 08-30-2007, 11:20 AM well no your right, but since i'm asking please endulge me. It's just like anything else, it varies from all types of factors but I think you're probably on the spot. I'm more of a 1/4 mile type of person than a 0-60 tycoon. REIGN SS 08-30-2007, 11:25 AM put the front of your car on jackstands i bet your 0-60 time will improve ALOT... Manual of course. djpatrick35 08-30-2007, 03:26 PM 7.5 - 8 seconds sounds about right for a stock 2.2l. Manual of course. That should be about right. As for the Delorean, the ones that were released in the States had catalytic converters that dropped horsepower to 130 horsepower - LESS THAN us 2.2 boys have. Car and Driver said 0-60 times were at 10.5 seconds. Your 2.2 would blow its gullwing doors off! joeworkstoohard 08-30-2007, 03:27 PM That should be about right. Yeah... When I go 88 miles an hour in my Cobalt, it doesn't go back to 1985! BroBalt 08-30-2007, 06:13 PM that sounds about right the 2.0 is in the lower 6s maybe higher 5s for the 0-60 the 2.4 is from either 6.8-7.2 so 8ish sounds right for you 2.2 guys hell h3s do 0-60 in 10+ seconds... to me the 0-60 time represents its launching capabilities and the 1/4 mile, it's long term potential, some cars may have a lower 0-60 however do fairly well in the quarter for example, you know him as mr. vtakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk...2006 civic si and while were on the subject of civic si's, today on my way to work, there's this si hatch (2006) whos in the left lane, me in the right, well some fuckin douche rolls out of a gas station on the right, makes an awkard right turn in front of me (this was at a red light), and blocks my chances of lining up with the si you son of a b*#@$*, oh it so happens it was an old honda 05redline 08-30-2007, 08:02 PM I know that a 2.2 Cobalt LS automatic sedan was the slowest POS I've ever driven, if that says much for the others. Even with brake torque launching you would need a sundial for the 0-60. YSUsteven 08-30-2007, 08:42 PM I know that a 2.2 Cobalt LS automatic sedan was the slowest POS I've ever driven, if that says much for the others. Even with brake torque launching you would need a sundial for the 0-60. You must have never driven a pickup, or a SUV, or very many cars ever for that matter. Its an economy car, not a lightning bolt. 05redline 08-30-2007, 08:44 PM You must have never driven a pickup, or a SUV, or very many cars ever for that matter. Victory06 08-31-2007, 09:38 AM I know that a 2.2 Cobalt LS automatic sedan was the slowest POS I've ever driven, if that says much for the others. Even with brake torque launching you would need a sundial for the 0-60. You must not have driven many cars, then. The 2.2 is slow compared to an SS, but far, far from the slowest car out there and a rocket compared to most cars from the 80s. kovich14 08-31-2007, 09:43 AM 2.2L guys: dont listen to some of these ignorant people. the 2.2L ecotec is a good engine with good potential. back when i owned my 99 cavalier, us LN2 guys were constantly getting smoked by the L61 (2.2 eco) cavs and cobalts. everything is relative. no shit the 2.2 eco is not as quick as an SS or some other cars. but there is always a bigger fish, someone is always faster than the SS too. there, a little love from an SS owner. 05redline 08-31-2007, 07:18 PM You must not have driven many cars, then. The 2.2 is slow compared to an SS, but far, far from the slowest car out there and a rocket compared to most cars from the 80s. No, I've only driven 3 cars ever. Read a couple posts above. The 2.2 is not quick at all, end of story. For those worried about 0-60 times with it, you bought the wrong car. YSUsteven 08-31-2007, 08:56 PM No, I've only driven 3 cars ever. Read a couple posts above. The 2.2 is not quick at all, end of story. For those worried about 0-60 times with it, you bought the wrong car. No, its not the fastest car in the world, but there are those that are slower. You are right about "For those worried about 0-60 times with it, you bought the wrong car." The 2.2 in not a street racer. It could be, but it would cost too damn much. kovich14 09-01-2007, 11:25 AM No, I've only driven 3 cars ever. Read a couple posts above. The 2.2 is not quick at all, end of story. For those worried about 0-60 times with it, you bought the wrong car. Damn. whats up your ass? the OP asked a simple question about his car. no one ever said the 2.2 was a racecar. The 2.2 is still one of the quicker econo boxes out there and that is the truth. you invalidate nothing with your argument. 07cobaltowner 09-04-2007, 07:28 AM ha! well thanks guys. i know my car isn't fast. i was more worried about my driver skill, i really need to get to the track and put down some 1/4 mile times. besides i'm proud of my little beast, and it being slow has nothing to do with the way it looks, and it still puts the women in the seats with looks of "nice car" ;) WunSick 09-04-2007, 09:50 AM between 2 and 3 days. jk, 8 seems respectable. CORVETTE007 09-04-2007, 06:32 PM You know what, the Cobalt 2.2 isn't all that bad. Like with anything, the more you drive it the more you get used to it and how it performs. My '07 Z06 will do 0-60 in about 3.7 and runs the 1/4 mile in about 11.7. Believe it or not, after driving it for a while you get used to how it performs. I'm more of a conservative driver, but some of the other guys I know are adding blowers etc... to their Z06's. Problem with this car is that you can't get it off the line from a standstill. The rear tires will go up in smoke well through 2nd gear and will chirp them into 3rd, which at that point is well over 100MPH. I actually really enjoy my Cobalt LT. It's a nice, comfortable, smooth driving car that gets me 34+MPG! 07cobaltowner 09-05-2007, 12:47 PM i forgot to mention that i have aftermarket 18" wheels, and an 80lb sub box in the trunk. so that is gonna affect my 0-60 big time. especially the wheels, all that unsprung weight. when i take them off for the winter i will re-do my time and gives you guys an update. |
