So I got my fog lights to come on automatically

I was bored tonight and had the idea to have my foglights come on automatically. I was tired of having to hit the button everytime I wanted them on. It was extremely easy to do and took no time to install. I bought 2 "Mini Tap a Fuse"'s. I had to go to 2 different auto stores becuase they only had one at each. I took one of them and cut the crimpped end off of it. I then stripped the wire back. I took and crimped the 2 taps together. I then had to bend the prongs back about 15-20 degrees so that they would be able to fit in the fuse spots. I filled all spots with 15A fuses (same as stock), This took 4 fuses because you need 2 fuses for each tap. I then plugged one into the fog light fuse spot and the other into the parking light spot. This will turn the fog lights on with the parking lights come on. This will also allow them to be on when you high beams come on. I hope that htis helps everyone. I might be able to get pictures tomorrow when the sun is out,

I will get a how to up sometime next week to help clearly state everything. My car is at chevy getting a new radio and then I won't be in town this weekend. I am sure there are many people that want this on their cars.

hell yea we do... one question... does it make your parking lights still come on lower like they do if you turn the fogs on during the day?

Reign - I will get a how to with pictures. It is pretty easy and doesn't cost but like $15.

Orng - At how this is wired, when you turn on your parking lights, you turn on your fog lights. Now, if it is during the day and you turn on your fog lights, it will turn on your parking lights. This is a little different than stock. When you hit the fog lights during the day, the day time running lights dim. Now everything on the parking light circuit will come on.

oh i see what you did. you flipped the positions. so that your DRL are now fogs and your fog switch is your parking light. gotcha. good idea

Now I don't know much about wiring or all these... but is there anyway you could just reverse the fog switch so that the default position is on?

I think I have confused you on my wiring. On the 2006's, as far as I can tell, the DRL's and parking lights are seperate fuses. I did not wire into the DRL's, only the fog light fuse and the parking light fuse. This is the one that lights up your turn signal on the dim setting and the brake light on the dim setting at night. This will probably make more sense when I get a how to made.

There is a way, you would need the Auto Off Traction Control System from easy performance, but then wire it to the fog lights. Its essentially a kit that pushes the button once when you start the car automatically.

This is a quick fix, but you could overstrain the park lamp circuit so I wouldn't recommend it.
