Something a little birdie told me

So my friend's dad owns a Chevy Dealership. The two of them were up in Detroit talking to some people. One of the guys happens to be a guy that my friend races with, who also happens to head up the GM Performance division. He let him in on a little secret. The performance division is taking a Cobalt to the Nurburgring for testing. He wouldn't tell what this cobalt was, or why they are doing it, but it is basically exactly what they were doing with the HHR SS while it was being tested. He also said that the reason they got rid of the supercharged version was that the contract did expire.

I don't know if any of this is new news (I did a search and found nothing about this in particular lately), but that is what he told me yesterday, so look out for developments in the near future.

I don't care if people flame, I am telling the direct info I got from an insider, lol. There will be a cobalt going to the Nurburgring, that is a fact.

Wow, sounds good man, thanks for the info! I'm sure that you remember that all the early '05 reviews talked about how the SS/SC suspension was developed and tested on the Ring.
I take it that the expired contract was for the Eaton?

All in all, interesting news, thanks!

Hey, takes! Haven't seen you here before, but I've not been active long. Wish I could visit the Ring!

No reason for there to be any flaming here. He didn't say anything about it going Turbo or anything to that effect, just that he knows of a fairly reliable source that knows that the Cobalt is back at the testing grounds, where everything that is anything in GM has come to be.

I agree...What is there to flame? I think that assuming the info is in fact true, I find it VERY interesting, and am curious as to what exactly GM would be testing.

He keeps me updated on everything chevy that there is to know, so hopefully it will come down the grapevine as to when this is happening.

As for how reliable of a source he is. The car he raced for a while was one of the Cobalt SS/SCs that was prototyping the Stage 3, and they have a direct relationship with the GM Performance guys, so I have not been let down as to any info that he has given me yet.

On a completely different note, as soon as they are getting an HHR SS, I get to drive it. I will post a review when it goes down.
