cakeeater is right, hes not being a complete flamejob, mach 1s usually run low 13s. although they have a similar peak output # to say a 99 svt cobra(n/a) the mach 1 has a different cam and head that allows a broader powerband.

it is typical for 99 svt cobras to run low 14s, from what i've seen, sometimes high 13s stock

 

With what i can see in that video before it "cuts off".....(and who cuts off a video of them winning?) They looked pretty damn even, that was a awesome launch for a cobalt though i will give him that credit, cause from the start that mach didnt pull away any on him. But i as well would like to see some time slips. Good kill if thats how the raced ended lol.

 

99 cobras are very wierd when it comes to track times. There was actually a recall on them because due to issues with the exhaust/intake manifold, they were making signifigantly less power than they were rated at. Ford recalled them and replaced the problem parts and most of the recalled cars dyno 15-20whp higher some more.

i didnt know that, i'd be pissed if i bought a car making 20whp less power than the car should run at.

I don't understand the whole flameage issue.
I remember raping a Mach 1 about 2 years ago in my GSX with 3" exhaust and running 19 psi...I'd imagine someone here would say that was impossible too.

I could go out right now in a turdmobile and beat a GTO (omg!!! ya I just said a GTO, let another flamewar begin) if the driver can't drive.

There are so many factors in every race.

Maybe he had bald tires.
Maybe he rodded his car too much and its about to blow up.
Or maybe...just maybe...that Cobalt really is fast enough to beat an unbeatable Mach 1.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just tired of in every single war story thread I read, there is someone basically saying the thread starter is a liar. I'm sorry but I'm sure most of the people here have better things to do than make up fake kill stories.
