so to start it off, im new to this website and to this car... I have very little knowledge whatsoever when it comes to the highend of this car (turbo etc)... so a few weeks ago i purchased (or my parents help me buy) a 2008 cobalt 2lt... Note for the 08 version, there is no 3lt, and supposedly there is no ss version... i was furious to hear that... So i got the next best 2lt, which is liek a 3lt in the 07 edition... My question is that i woudl liek to know if it is possible to put turbo on the lt versions of the cobaly, bc i would be very intrested to do so... thanks for the help...

Tuning is NOT available yet for 08's and anything is possible. Someone will also tell you that you can use a piggy back, I will also tell you that they are idiots for suggesting it, no one has great success with using a piggy on a Cobalt. The ECU for the newer GM cars are so extra touchy that even changing one parameter will put the car into limp mode.

the 08 cobalts differ very little from the 07's. i hear they have 2 catatylic converters but their computers are VERY similar differing only in emissions ****. i am sure it wont be long before people have turbo kits with tuning out for the 08's. several companies have kits out for the 07's and i'm sure with minimal tweaking they can have kits ready to roll for the 08. if you dont want a kit, then get uber familiar with HP tuners.

P.S. they did do away with the ss supercharged (again for emissions reasons), but the 2.4 SS is still around; its just called the cobalt sport now. same car...different badges

 

the 08' are sports not ss.. they still come with the 2.4 but the got rid the the ss s/c. i'm acutally buying the 08' cobalt SPORT 5 speed coupe
