time for winter tires...

I saw snowflakes this weekend, so I decided its time to shop for snow tires. The stock Pirelli's are GARBAGE in the snow.

If it won't look too retarded, I'd rather just buy a used set of 2 tires on ebay, since the front end is all that really matters anyways, and I'd be swapping the Pirellis back on the front when it gets nice out again.

So what do you all recommend as a good winter tire? I want something I can find used for a decent price.

Actually I watched a show and they said that on front-wheel drive cars the backs are just as important as the fronts.

TOTALLY agree with this statement, living in Canada, I can attest to it. You really do need all 4 tires. Not just for snow but black ice and other bad sh**.

I just don't know what's better. Suck or blow? Continental or Pirelli? Hmmmm...life can be mysterious.

I have Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S. They are great tires. So much better than the stock. I got them off tirerack.com

I use the Michelin X-Ice and they worked excellent last year.

2 things I would recommend, one is getting a set of 4 and the other thing is getting a set of winter rims. The salt used on the roads isn't great for the finish on the rims.

It'll be snowing in flagstaff soon enough. Can't wait to go up there and ski.

Damn, nobody listens... just buy some GOOD m&s tires put them on the stock rims (wouldn't really recommend it on the polished rims, salt will etch it out!) and whallah, you won't have to worry about it again!

Blizzaks or bust for winter tyres.

I hope you're joking. If you decide to use these tyres for winter use, assuming you get snow/ice etc, be sure to have good insurance. Wouldn't hurt to have your family and friends pray for you at night, also.

heh, just did a google search on those bdgoodrich gforce tires... they look like they'll run worse than the pirelli's in the winter!

where's a good place to by cheap wheels online? cause i'm considering the winter tire thing too. luckily it typically only snows january through march in ri.

Yup i always get a laugh when i see people up here who are to cheap, and run a set of winters on the front.

The backs control your LATERAL movement (IE. sliding sideways into ditches)

so while your getting good traction to move, your car is all over the road.

I was also told that if i can only afford 2, put those on the back.
(I bought 4)
