2.0 Turbo I4 Help Ideas.

My dad Purchased a Soltice GXP. He wants a Little more Power As much As I have on My cobaltss. At least 270WHP.

Well This thing looks hard to modify.
The turbo is almost maxed out it hits 20 psi of boost already.
With a manual controler I could only get 2psi more.
Its like you have to replace the turbo like on the srt 4 for some real power.
The only thing that looks easy would be nos.
Any information any one.

start with other bolt-ons....a full exhaust should free up some extra power. Try getting an intake. Also if there is tuning support available, he should have no problem hitting his goal.

Make sure you dont go too big on the exhaust. If I'm not mistaken, if you flow too much you will lose back pressure needed to spin the turbo.

Would a wastegate help any? Or would that be pointless? Don't the srt4's use them to get more out of there turbo?

If I did do nitrous I would be lost were to start since the fuel pressure is a super 2213 PSI that would destroy a fuel selinod in a wet kit. Unless I did dry kit only.

Any one know any good sites for some nice bolt ons.
If they do put this setup in a cobalt It looks to hard to mod.
May have to keep mine.

wow 20 psi , and only 260hp....
id wait a while befor you do anything drastic , there not alot out for the gxp/redline just yet.
id go with intake , exhasut , and if you can a custom tune for now. and the stock cat hangs right off the back of the turbo, id see about getting a custom down pipe with the cat deleted or moved further down streem, but if you remove the cat , im sure you'll get some kind of cell from it , and as far as i know theres not alot of ecu support out the lnf yet.

no, the bigger the exhaust the more exhaust flow....the more flow the quicker the turbo will be able to spool up....bigger exhaust is good.

well it has 260hp stock...so 270whp is only like 30 more horses...intake/full exhaust and your there....additional wor would be some cams, and if you want even more hp get a larger turbo

Check out Hahn, they have a BSR tuner that the GXP guys have loved so far. Just about any bolt-ons you add w/o tuning on the 2.0DI, the computer compensates and backs the psi down so it stays at stock power levels. Check out solsticeforum.com for more info on the GXP

Intake and a turbo back exhaust should do nicely for the LNF... always the best place to start.

Nice that someone else has realised that the turbo is almost maxxed out right out of the box.

LSJ FTW.

3 inch turbo back exhaust, and up pipe should allow you to run more boost

folks read my last post, the ecu has heavy control over the power of the lnf. W/o tuning gains will be very slim if anything

electronic boost controller, if you do nitrous i would go the intercooler spayer route. And a full intake and exhaust and you could easily be making 300bhp, in return would grant you around 270whp.

A Cryo-rail for the intercooler would be a great idea. I've heard of other cars gaining some massive power with one of those things.

Though again... you'd need a tune to be able to properly compensate for it.

I wouldn't look to pushing more boost out of the stock turbo for more power. It's already maxed out.

However if the bcm DOES pull boost to compensate for mods then an electronic boost controller would stop that. However I don't know what kind of other problems that would bring up.

Some decent tuning with some exhaust/intake mods shouldn't have too hard of a time giving you the gains you want. But really this isn't the forum to ask about it on.

well some guys have reported the car going into limp mode after a CAI so i'd say the ecu is a little touchy.

Like some guys said, I would do some mods to get it to breathe better. That's the problem with a lot of cars is getting it to breathe. Exhaust and CAI should give it a noticeable power increase.

Ok So I think I will just do bolt on for now and keep stock part just incase it needs to go back to the dealer. I am thinking what would probly be the best mod on this car for now would be gears rember it rear wheel drive any one know if they make 430 gears for it.
That may be the easest way to get 30 hp more feel from it.

It's UP to 20 PSI first of all

And don't relate PSI as what gains you power, it's the CFM per Pressure made

To the original poster, you'll get screwed by the Torque management on the car.
