How much are YOU boosting?

So...here it is to all the non-believers that wanted vid proof calling BS on my claims of 16.5 to 17lbs with my set up. Im stage2 with intake and exhaust in my Cobalt SS. This is a 2nd gear pull. Looks well past 16 or 17 to me.....but I'm not sure, it's just a video and all.

the link worked...had to check. Yes I hit the rev limiter at the VERY end right as I let off. OOPS Was a bit tricky to keep the cam on the gauge and drive and watch the tach at the same time. So there it is though. Anymore nay-sayers?

hahaha I was waiting for that one! :P I'm used to this with my car..I thought 16.5-17easy was the norm. Taking a close look at the vid a couple times and pausing it, I'm over the middle bold line at the very peak before I JUST tapped the rev limiter. That would put me (in this one 2nd gear pull) at over 17.5. Me likey!

Higher boost is bad, lower boost is good. I don't understand all these people who get excited because their boost is over 15psi with stage 2. It means that ether your gauge is bad or you have something restricting flow in your system and your loosing power because of it.

whats so non believing?

not to mention you make it sound as if more boost is a good thing? You could easily get walked by the same car on less boost

i walked a cobalt with a 2.7 and 60lbs that was boosting 18psi and i was just on s2 and had the bad boost gauge which was readin 15psi at redline, had it changed under warranty since it was movin super slow

2.5 pullied and 16-17 lbs of boost.....Belt shows no sign of slippage....i just think my heaton i mean eaton supercharger is on its way out lol

When I first had it, boosted 19.4 lbs of boost....WTF is this crap lol stupid 16 lbs of boost

Oh and I run the boost bypass "mod" so there's no way it could be my bypass or boost sensor...since they don't control it anymore and it's just free to boost w/e it wants

If you ran the boost bypass "break" then you most likely messed up your supercharger. Nice job destroying your ride from doing something damaging that you didn't bother to research.

I bet it's a clogged cat. I have seen it a few times here on the boards.
Any rotten egg smells? Does it pull hard or just boost a lot and go nowhere?

I boost 16.69 psi with a 2.9 (HPTuners told me so, lol)

Here in Calgary Alberta I am boosting 15-16 psi on a mechanical boost Autometer gauge. The stock gauge was 16-17 psi.

Either the gauge is off or you have a restriction somewhere...

Do I hear an echo?

All cars are different and ur tune, exhaust set up, etc. will make a difference in how much boost ur building....I had a 2.85" that was building 18 psi on my stage 2 tune...which ran great when i had stock exhaust on the stage 2 tune....but then my tensioner and s/c started knocking (not effecting my boost; just annoying bc everyone in fast food restaurants look outside to see what all the comotion is about when i'm in the drive thru, lol)...long story short, i installed a catback and lost some low end, but bc of the knocking i went back down to the stage 2 pulley which is giving me 15 psi and i'm running as quick/ good at the 15 psi as i ran on the 18 psi with stock exhaust, so I feel that the exhaust is working better to my benefit with lower boost levels (Since I'm just running stage 2 reflash)...It would be a different case if I had a dyno tune....call BS if you want but I ran 13.6 on the 2.85" with a Clutchmasters Stage 4 clutch/ flywheel combo with stock exhuast and I'm running the same at 15psi with the catback......The easy way to tell if your car is running good and its not a fault with ur boost gauge is find someone with similar mods and run e/o from a roll (that way there isn't a worry about who got the better launch)...and see if he blows you out the water.....

lol. I was boosting 20-21 psi with my 2.55 pulley, ported s/c, header, and 3" catback and 3" dp w/o cat.
now I'll be at 22psi with the turbo (If I ever get my car back).
but yeah something is wrong with your car or gauge man, shouldn't be that high. either you have an exhaust valve not opening (if you hear a rattle at idle from the head, that's it) or a bad cat.

If you would've read one of my posts a long time ago, you would've known my problem...Boost would stutter down to 5 lbs of boost when all the lines were hooked up...I replaced my boost sensor, bypass, and the solenoid, which by the way was hard to get parts for that, especially the bypass actuator, and none of that fixed my problem...Till this day I have no idea what that problem is nor does the dealership I go to....the only fix for that is the boost bypass

Second of all, I could really give 2 shyts about this car anymore as it is falling apart on me...the shift knob just broke in half the other day on me. A bunch of other little things are wrong with this car. I plan on buying a new car very soon so I really could care less...OH AND I rev to 7400 at the track (shows you how much I care)

And I don't even want to sell the car because the resale value just sucks on it and it wouldn't even be worth selling it (although I was planning on selling it, I changed my mind)

I loved my car so much, but now that it's garbage, I just don't give a crap anymore

Edit: Oh and I don't belive doing the boost bypass mod "messes up" the supercharger...the only thing I know for certain is that it gives you crazy a/f ratios, which I already fixed since I have hptuners
