Ecotec Billet Crankshaft Pulley

Will it be worth changing the crankshaft pulley. CED sells it for $583.20. I talk to a corvette guy and told me gains should yield somewhere between 19-23HP. Is there anything should I worry about if I get it installed? Before this I will be buying a CA Heat Exchanger. Hope you help me. BTW, I found these websites. Very nice.

waste of money, put 500 bucks towards something more effective like tuning.

^^^ Good Advice ^^^^
Reducing "reciprocating" mass such as pistons, rods, crank throws etc etc will show gains like that but reducing rotating "balanced" mass, much less so.
You might not even be able to measure the effects of installing JUST a billet crank pulley on the dyno...

Money is not an issue for me. I'll get the tune sometime this year. I just want to mod first. Once again, does anybody know if I need additional parts?

Thanks

Well, If I go down on pulley will be a 2.8". I know I will be revving faster with the smaller crank pulley and thus more gains.

you will get the same results from going to a smaller pulley you will still be spinning the s/c faster

Underdrive from the crankshaft pulley means the pulley is smaller that the original pulley it replaces. Underdrive from the accessory pulley means the pulley is larger than the original pulley it replaces. Originally they were invented for race cars in the 1950s and 60s, whose engines had been modified and ran at higher RPMs for longer periods of time than the manufacturers had intended.

HP gains from being lighter can be significant, from 4-14 HP for normally aspirated engines to 12-25 HP for forced induction engines.

i know gm made it but you will not use that part unless you are going with a very high hp application where you are probably ditching the blower. If its a smaller pulley s/c or crank it will spin the s/c faster cuase more heat so what little power you will make will be signifacantly reduced by the heat

yes becuase you will be spinning the blower faster if you pulley down or get that pulley, so why not spend $50 to make the same realiable power as you would with 500

Yeah, I see your point. I'm thinking, let's say I change the crank pulley, the s/c will spin faster (and maybe raising boost to 17psi, just and example). Now, we have less drag from the a/c and alternator. On the other hand, I change to a 2.85 pulley, for example, raising probably boost to 17 psi. I think, even though there is much heat created by both mods, by changing the crank pulley will gain more (just a little bit, maybe 10hp) than changing the s/c pulley. Difference here is what you suggested, $$$, from $50 to $500 its a lot.

Thanks

for our cars your going to want a stock size lightweight crank pulley, if you get one of a different size your going to run into problems else where with the s/c
