View Full Version : Track Day
mchat 11-07-2005, 10:13 AM Now that it's cooling off good, y'all have no more excuses to avoid the track *cough* PHXSS *cough*
I'm thinking about heading out this Friday Night to Speedworld. They'll have brackets and time only lanes open.
Also Sunday, Nov 20th is club day. Any car club can call (623 388-0039) and register their club. A bunch of SRT-4's will be out there from all over the Southwest. Some will even be stock :D
BTW, here's my quickest slip from this weekend:

Actually I usually go with the M&H tires (running the M&H skinnies on the rear). But the Hoosier 8" slicks had a narrower section width (by about an inch or more) than the M&H 8.5" slicks. At the time I wasn't running coil-overs so clearance was an issue.
97cavie24ls 12-01-2005, 02:43 AM you dont still have the 8" 1's do you ? and maybe on wheels ?
id like to try 1 on my cav and see if it will fit , since we both are 5x100
Wow! Sweet times. That is insane for a FWD car of any kind. Thats Z06 territory!
Nice Job!

If it'll clear the springs, most likely they'll fit. Though unless you're pushing 400+ whp, the 26x8" slicks are WAY overkill and will hurt you big time at the top end of th track.
A friend of mine runs the 26x6" slicks, cuts low 1.7 60's with them running ~270whp and 310ft/lbs.

Thanks. 2006 will see some major improvements as well. :D
I was planning on taking the car to SCO night on Dec 10th, but got rear-ended the Thursday before Thanksgiving. :cussing: So right now the car is in the body shop getting the rear-end fixed.
On the 19th the car goes to Comp Chassis (local shop) to get a 5pnt bar, racing seats and harness installed. I'm also fabbing up a scatter-shield for the clutch so I'll be legal down to 10.000.
I'm also using the down time to build the engine. An NRGY Race Engine (http://www.nrgyheads) is going in and I'm planning on selling my motorcycle to fund a 100 shot direct port progressive Nitrous Express system. :guns:

thats part of the problem in haing is fining a good size tire , i need the traction off the line and want a tire taller than 24"
my auto trans and s/c boost dont like taction off the line , lol
that sucks about your car man , and good luck with your future upgrades

I would go more then a 5pt, just so you don't have to take it out and redo it when you want to go faster. You know you will want to go faster. :twothumbs

I'd bet the 26x6x15" slick would work perfect for you. The nice thing is the slick fits on a PT Cruiser wheel (15x6) which makes a good "low buck" setup.

Actually, not with this car. The plan with this car is to run consitently in the mid/low 10's. If I want to go faster than that, I'll build a RWD twin turbo V8 car ;) Maybe mix old school w/ new school. By the time I'd get around to building it, there ought to be a few 6.1L in the bone yards. I could see building a forged internals twin GT35 or GT40 powered 6.1L Hemi and stick it in a glass bodied, tube chassis, "old school" muscle car. :guns:
97cavie24ls 12-02-2005, 12:30 PM wheels are another problem ive got , since ive got wilwood 12.2 rotors , with their 4 piston calipers in front , the offset and spoke design have to good caliper clearence
what brand are the 26 x 6 x 15's he has ? when i was looking last week all i saw were the 26 x 8's

Here are the slicks:

I went with Bogart (they're local BTW) wheels for my SRT-4. They can accomodate just about any brake configuration as long as a 15" wheel will clear the top of the brake calipers. But that can get a bit pricey depending on size/options $360 to $400 per wheel.
97cavie24ls 12-02-2005, 03:52 PM yeah i know those are spendy , my friend has them on his 12 second sunfire , on all 4 wheels
i know the calipers will clear a 15" rim
thank you for the info on the slicks
