There are two other SS 'balts in my town and haven't seen many others. Bob T 11-10-2005, 10:50 AM I was in Des Moines on Mon,Tue,Wed of this week. Checking out the rail yard(I work at the railroad-I am not a FRN). Beautiful area , Iowa as a whole . But I chose a job with better security up in MN. The guy that rode co-pilot all the way from MKE ,WI to Chi-town then across to Des Moines just may move down though , But he is a Neon SRT-4(stage 2 mods,he says) owner. It is bright yellow and he cruises fairly often. Nice person-not a hater of any sort...I hope I made the right decision.later Stealth06_SS 11-10-2005, 03:17 PM Good luck man. Iowa is a pretty place, but a whole lotta small towns, there is not really much to do. That is were many people get in trouble. Des Moines is a really great town with alot of opportunities, plus a great downtown to cruise. I live a bought an hour and fifteen minutes a way and cruise there alot during the summer. Stealth06_SS 11-12-2005, 06:07 PM Looks like for know I'm the only SS holding it down for the IA. :( Stealth06_SS 11-12-2005, 06:08 PM now not know, sorry for the type-o walkeda0 11-17-2005, 09:34 PM Hey, I'm in Iowa. Maybe after the winter weather is up we can set up a meet. Maybe in Des Moines or a center meeting area depending on where everyone's from. Everyone try and keep adding to this thread to stay in contact! :twothumbs tsmock 01-26-2006, 10:46 PM My friends got a black SS S/C in Independence. I use to lve there it's about 20 miles from Sioux Falls, SD. The town is a whole lot of nothing about 800 people. Looked at a blue ss s/c there but it was out of my price range at the time. Got a promotion 1 month after I got my LS, sucked. BTW, I work at the Best Buy on University. tsmock 02-22-2006, 03:15 PM Well I got a Cobalt instead of the turbo cavalier I said above. 2005 SS/SC - red. white lightning SS 03-24-2006, 11:45 PM hey guys, I'm from Urbandale and just bought a white SS from Bob Brown. It's a coupe with a five speed (first manual in ten years) so far I love it, it has guts for a 4 banger but got to watch the burn outs.... Been trying to find some 17" or 18" rims with black centers and polished lip, but everything I like is on back order. Once the weather warms up I plan on taking it to Porkey's drive in on cruise nights. lets hear from other central Iowa owners. tdirlmeier 03-25-2006, 12:03 AM hey guys, I'm from Urbandale and just bought a white SS from Bob Brown. Cool to see more Iowan's posting & I'll be at porky's car night for sure when it starts back up as I usually always attend & then I hit bike night also:) I saw Tires plus had a set of rims that were black with brushed outer rings setting by there dorrway last week at the parfair location as I bought a set of 17" wheels & tires for winter driving there. Just conferm the integrity of the metal used to MFG the wheel as mine have been replaced twice cuz of cheep aluminum used in the making of them? I'm in the works of getting a refund & replacing the rims. white lightning SS 03-27-2006, 11:42 PM Cool to see more Iowan's posting & I'll be at porky's car night for sure when it starts back up as I usually always attend & then I hit bike night also:) I saw Tires plus had a set of rims that were black with brushed outer rings setting by there dorrway last week at the parfair location as I bought a set of 17" wheels & tires for winter driving there. I'll check out the rims out at the Ankeny Tires Plus, we have a member of the camaro club that is half owner, and should cut me a deal!!!! I'm interested in knowing what brand of rims that you have been having trouble with (so I wouldn't make the same mistake). I stay away from the Tire Plus on Merle Hay, they tried to rip me off once on an alignment on a newly lowered S-10 xtreme blazer. See Ya. tsmock 03-31-2006, 06:30 PM I just put a post up about a Iowa meet in Williamsburg on the 8th. It'd be great to see some Cobalts there. Two SS S/C's are comming so far. http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15933 moxjake 04-01-2006, 08:43 PM I live in Cedar Rapids, but I'm currently in Houghton MI finishing up my B.S. Cpe. I'll be back down there with you guys mid-May. I drive an 05 Arrival Blue LS 1SB. white lightning SS 04-15-2006, 09:25 PM  Hey all Mid Iowa Balt's, Porky's in Des Moines is now having car nights again, I guess it started last week on Wednesday and would have been tonight (cancelled due to threat of storms) I'll be looking for fellow Balt owners.....I saw a Red SS/SC today on east Euclid that I think had a ************* sticker. Ha ha ha that was me I'm sure as I live on E 7th street about 5 houses off Euclid:) I go to porkys alot & I'm wondering if they have changed the format as it use to be called car night but I noticed now they call it clasic car night. I'll get up there next Wednesday & talk to the owner as I'm going out of town this Wednesday but I want to make sure what night we can park on the lot. I say this because they about refused to let me drive on the lot with my SC Tahoe till they saw what it had in it & I saw new Vetts & GTO's on the lot but the cop was waving me off & I about roasted the tires away. Hey if we ever want to just compare mods or what not drop by or Email me 3501 E 7th street I have a great garage to play in & all the tools we need :) SS Gordon 04-22-2006, 09:04 PM So we need to meet up on a Saturday night as thats car night also I just drove threw the lot looking for Cobalts & didn't see anyone so I headed home but if I knew you were going to show up I'd get up there early & get a parking spot:) white lightning SS 04-24-2006, 09:27 AM I did go up Saturday night but was late 7:30PM or there about, the place was packed and had to park down the street. It sounds like they will let certain late model vehicles in after 6:00PM (would have to be a camaro, corvette, viper or something along those lines) I think our best bet would be Wednesday evening and being this early in the season they let about anything in.......How about dropping a 572 blown engine in yours, that would get you in with no problem. I nornally park on the west side of the lot next door on the drive, look for a white SS with red stripe. Bob tdirlmeier 05-03-2006, 12:41 AM Anybody going to Porkys tomorrow night (5/3)? I don't have to work tomorrow so I might swing by if the weather is good. Helltime 07-09-2007, 04:40 AM Old but, Des Moines here. Got an 07 balt LS. I'm from Iowa. Just moved from the QCA to just south of the QCA in Po-dunk, Iowa. ionREDLINEracer 07-09-2007, 04:40 PM I'm from Des Moines (Urbandale, to be exact). But I don't have a Cobalt, I've got an Ion Redline. tdirlmeier 07-09-2007, 09:25 PM Grimes here. Right outside of Des Moines on the Northwest side. I just realized that when i originally posted in this thread I had my old 05 LS, lol. Man, this is an old thread. Anyway, what color is your car Helltime? Helltime 07-13-2007, 03:51 PM Mines silver, just got the windows tinted 20% all around. I am going to take it back to them once the parent's car gets out of the shop and tell them it needs fixed (life time warrenty on the tint) because there are some bubbles and it looks like they tryed splicing 2 peices of tint together on my passangers rear window. They did good work on the civic but i am alittle pissed on this one. ionREDLINEracer 07-13-2007, 04:06 PM Mines silver, just got the windows tinted 20% all around. Helltime 07-13-2007, 05:12 PM I had it done at Iowa trim design. They did an awesome job on the civic but i am not too happy with this one, like i said i am going to take it back to them (this time i am going to cover my seats with something) and have them redo both fronts and the rear passenger's windows once my parent's get their car out of the shop. tdirlmeier 07-16-2007, 02:11 AM I had it done at Iowa trim design. Off of railrode out....kinda southwest of the valley junction area. tdirlmeier 07-17-2007, 01:46 AM Where is this place? easiest way to get there is to get on Grand Ave and turn East onto Fuller Rd. Its only about 5 or 6 blocks off Grand if I remember correctly. |
