Ok Im not even sure if they have a turbo kit for the 2.2 but on my way home from my womans I see a 4 door balt which looked like a 2.2 4 door. The guy revs his engine at the light and it sounded a little sexy actually. I couldnt tell if it was turboed or not. Anyway do they make kits? Could he have been turbo'd? What kind of power do they make if so? I had to turn and didnt catch up to ask.
No he was behind me at a light, then I had to pass another car because the two lanes became one, he eventually got around and flew by me where It sounded pretty good. My girlfriend has a stock 2.2 cavy and it doesnt sound anywhere near that, maybe he had just an intake but it sounded a little like a turbo kit.
The way he reved his engine at the light and caught up made me think he wanted a little run. To bad I had to turn!

I know my friends jetta sounds a hell of alot better with an AEM intake, so I think it may have been just an intake, but it had that exhaust sound that made it almost seem like it was a turbo.
On a side note saw a SPEC-V with a intercooler for its turbo at Uncle bears which was pretty sweet looking actually.
Yeah I would race but on val vista (the road I was on) it is littered with cops every night.

My g/f waited for me at Applebee's for 20 minutes once... she had a window booth... and knew just as soon as I flew past the place side by side with a Mustang Mach 1, that I was gonna be a while.
HAHAHA thats the best story ive ever heard..was she cool with it? + rep for that heroic decision bro!
Yeah... she was a little upset... but she knows how I roll. I don't pass up a GOOD race unless my 6th sense is acting up (5 or 6 times... saved my ass every time!).
Also, something as rare as a Turbo Cobalt Sedan... you don't turn off! That's like if I were to be cruising town and see a MKIV Supra or a Skyline... I'm not turning off unless a cops lights are flashing behind me! That ****'s RARE!

+ rep on that, thats some funny **** right there!!
I still think a Stage 2 Balt would be a turbo 2.2 - assuming he was running the Garrett turbo kit. Which puts the power levels around par with a stockish SS/SC...maybe right in between a Stage 2 and stocker.
an otherwise stock 2.2 with a turbo kit puts down pretty much the same #s as a stock ss/sc. On stock internals it's not reccomended to go above 250whp. Basically you would need the turbo kit and some extra form of tuning just to get to a stock stage 2 level. Beyond that you would need better pistons/rods.
Not to mention things like a better clutch, better tires, etc. to make the car handle smooth and run reliably.
Although I don't doubt that a stock 2.2 with a turbo could beat a stock ss/sc.
