Added RP XPR and Max Gear to the IRL Today

Came to 130 66 for the oil, 18 for the Max Gear, 5 for the filter and 40 for ******* labor. Overall the engine is a tad smoother BUT i can really feel it in the tranny. Shifts are butter smooth and less clunking then with the stock POS gm oil.

Would reccomend everyone try the RP max gear atleast once to see how they like it.

I've been itching to try the "XPR" oil for awhile because i've read it is just regular RP with a different additive package but i can't really tell the difference between the two. The engine is alittle smoother but that might just be from the plug change.

I am a believer of the Max Gear now. AWESOME compared to the stock gear oil.

BTW - Anyone looking for RP can get 6 quarts at walmart for 40 dollars.

Awesome. How did you go about draining the fluid? I don't know the exact location of our drain plug or fill plug.

Hmm.. I wonder exactly how much they would charge to change only the fluid out. I'll have to ask tomorrow.

I ran RP when i drove across the country with no problems. It was a nice 2800 mile treck in 3 days. I put 6500 miles since changing to RP before moving.

Thanks for all the info Onyxd04Redline! Looks like your on your way to your first green box! No for real though, I'm going to do the same for the tranny, but going to stick with the Mobil 1 performance fully synthetic oil for the engine.

I have a good thread for you to read rally. It's about M1 and testing.

Whatever it is, it's on the oil cap, GM recommends it, i'll keep using it. Simple as that.

I've read some horrific stories of people switching over to Royal Purple.

For starters, i've seen 2 of my friends motors with 30k miles begin gunking up when switching over. They switched right back when I told them that **** isn't good.

really? all I've ever heard were good stories. from both regular people and independent testing alike.

I don't know why some people shy away from Royal Purple.. they've been around quite awhile, its not like they just starting producing oil last year or something.....

*edit: Also, GM clearly recommends those CRAPPY Pirelli tires that come stock on our car... that should tell you a thing or two about what GM recommends and what is or is not neccesarily 'good' for our cars....

My buddy's tested out a bunch of different oils on his boat. 33' Eliminator hull w/ twin BB's sportin' 10:71 blowers putting down 980HP a piece. Lets just say he put hours into all different types of oil and the one that came out the cleanest was M1.

Just like Damien said, it's on the cap and that's good enough for me...

I agree there, the tires suck absolute dick on our cars.

Companies can't market something that it is not. I believe there is Mobile 1 Fully Synthetic and Mobil 1 Synthetic Blend.

I read that link Onyx posted up, lots of people seem to love German Castrol 0W-30.
