I was just wondering if anyone thinks that the 2005-2007 Cobalt SS/SC will become somewhat a collector's car in the future. I know it most likely won't pace the Supra, but you think it will retain full value over let's say 5-10 years? Comments?

I am trading my car in for a brand new silver SS/SC with LSD. This will most likely be the last car my wife allows me for awhile. Post up with any comments. Oh and there were only 2 silver LSDs left in country BRAND NEW! And I got one of them locked right now, WOOHOO.

over the years it wont retain its value. i work at a dealership and there is only really one car or brand of cars that hold its value. that is the mini cooper and all bmw's. it sucks my car is only wrth like 14000 now on the KBB. chevys cant hold their value at all

 

Pretty much any car that people love in about 20 - 30 or 40 years will be worth something... but.... that is not always true.

I can see the cobalt showing up at car shows looong down the line... but if you want it to hold value for that long, you gotta put it away.

That's like saying a Z24 cavalier will be worth something. Does anyone truly know the exact number of SS/SCs made between 05-07? I'm sure around 10,000 or more. The only ones I could see being worth more later on are ones with really low miles and excellent shape 20 years from now, or the Berger Cobalt SS.

G85 cars will do well. Unmodded will also help the resale value.

 

Subaru has won best re-sale value the past two years. That is one fact most people do not know about. As for the cobalt SS/SC I'm surprised the value is at what it is at now. KBB used value with around 8k miles on a 06 is around 19k which is pretty good considering I bought mine and walked out for around 22k.

I don't think they will. But then again, I'm really confused about why GTO's and RX8's are holding value so well (no offense to either, I love both cars). But an 05 RX8 base model with 30k miles still has a private party value of almost $20k...and there is nothing extra special about a rotary...

actually...nvmd. I just answered my own question.

The Cobalt won't retain its value because there are so many. You could get, what was it, 5 different trim levels, different body's, interior's, engine's....

But with the GTO, you get 2 options. And with the RX8, you get basically 1 option. So there are about as many RX8's in the world as there are SS Cobalts. Same with the GTO's.

 

It's a cobalt.. Not a ferrari
