Test drove 07 cobalt SS/NA yesterday! Got ??

Hello everyone.
I've been hanging around on here for a little while reading up on these cars as I plan on getting one (used) eventually & have narrowed it down to either a mazda 3 or a cobalt. This car would be my everyday driver/commuter therefore gas mileage is pretty important. I'm leaning towards the 2.4 cobalt because it does have some get up & go & most importantly seems more apt to have the options I want like leather, 7 speaker stereo, wheels etc. I did a search on here for gas mileage on the 2.4 & for some reason you guys are experiencing gas mileage that is all over the board with this car???????? Since the car that I would get would be an AUTOMATIC I'm curious as to what people are getting with mostly highway miles 60-65mph with the 2.4 auto trans. Is there a big diff. between the manual & the auto when it comes to gas mileage? I know that this is the case with the Pontiac Gto which granted is a very diff. car, motor etc..
Anyway my only complaint after driving the car was the location of the trunk release button other than that I love the car.
Thanks,
Chad

Trunk release button is also on the FOB...

Anyways 60-65 constant this car runs on nothing...75+mph and the car starts using a lil more but overall I love my car. I wail on it and consitantly get 26-30 MPG...this is all with a 5 speed though so hopefully some other 2.4s come in here and speak up.

I have an Auto. I'm tuned with bigger injectors. I get 25mpg in the city with some spirited driving. Then I get 30-31 on the highway.

Yeah, I'd say on the highway I get about 7 to 7.5 liters per hundred kilometers.

Oh wait...that's like 31 - 33mpg for my American brothers. I really can't complain about the fuel mileage.

at 60 with level ground no wind and a light load, i can get 36-40 mpg
@70 same conditions i get 28-34 mpg
so the car does get good mpg, ,but you cant be hard on the throttle, passing and spirited driveing. Im getting a constant 23.6 for me right now, which includes hard acc, mountain driveing, 3rd going up steep grade. which isnt bad at all 75mph
oh and mine is a G5 GT auto, which is a cobalt SS/NA

The mazda 3 is a sweet car also, but the 2.4 cobalt or if you prefer the better looking sister car the G5 GT will take the mazda 3

its all how you drive it, thats why the everyone gets diff numbers. location is also a factor; denver vs daytona for example.

i drive relatively slow in 60-70% highway 500 ft above see level and i get 29 mpg on my 2.4 manual.

SS/NA 5 speed. Almost all city driving and I drive rather hard! I'm still getting between 10-11L/100km. I reset on a highway trip last weekend and was able to keep it well below 8L/100km at 120km/h cruising. I have no mods yet.

That's a hell of a lot better then my last car.
