Just so you don't underestimate the next rsx...

Thought I would post my recent times.
Track is never prepped, and is at 3500ft.
Car is 2004 rsx-s with slicks, 05 cams, 07 civic manifold, I/H/E tuned k-pro.
Here are the slips from the night, worst to best.

Here is a crappy cell-phone video of the 13.5 run...
http://pages.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/~chiul...6_at_101.5.3GP
(corrected to 12.99@105)

I usually hang in the western canada area, just thought you guys might be interested in the "enemy" so to speak!

Good times, with slicks I should be in the mid to high 12s now. Traction makes a hell of a differance as you can see with your car. Your only trapping at 101-102 and cobalts trap at the same speeds running 14s lol. My point is traction is so important! I trapped @ 107-108 running a tenth slower then your best time slip. I trapped 100mph stock and a E/T of 14.2 lol I have to say I'm impressed with your car and I like the RS-X alot. Was one of my choices of cars in my price range.

Yep, most just need some help...
Also, the more you hook, the less mph you get.
I ran 13.7 on street tires and 20whp less years back.
If you spin, your mph always goes up.
107-108 mph is defiantely good for 12's even with a 2.0 60 ft.
Your car hauls ass!!!
Are you going to get 26" slicks?

I also wanted to say that it is the only reason I post on here, is because for the most part, it is a great forum.
Cheers to car guys!!!

Actually, I don't underestimate ANY motorized vehicle.

Especially seeing how there are even go carts and snowmobiles that can run faster than a stock Mustang GT 500.

Still, a corrected 12.99@105 isn't bad when compared to what a stock RSX-s will do:

Acura RSX Type-S
Power (SAE net): 210 bhp
Torque (SAE net): 143 lb-ft

Zero to 60 mph: 6.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 16.6 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 6.9 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.9 sec @ 95 mph
Top speed: 136 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 181 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.86 g

Unfortunately, in comparison a stock SS/SC is still capable of this ...

Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged
C&D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 6.1 sec (WIN)
Zero to 100 mph: 15.3 sec (WIN)
Street start, 5–60 mph: 6.5 sec (WIN)
Standing ź-mile: 14.6 sec @ 99 mph (WIN)
Top speed: 141 mph (WIN)
Braking, 70–0 mph: 169 ft (WIN)
Roadholding, 0.86 g (TIE)

Thanks for your post though!

Yes, those results are a good example of the performance differences.
The stock cobalt puts out alot more power than a stock type-s, the big 18's
are what keeps it close.
The cobalt was underrated.

Keep posting away. Your very respectful and have some good bragin rights with your N/A RSX

You know everything about my car right now is in theory. For example, I ran a 13.6 @ 107 with the mods NOT in bold in my sig. So in theory with my new mods there is no reason I should not be in the 12s. I can only hope so but paper racing does not mean anything. So I added a downpipe with highflow cat, GMP exhaust manifold, motor mounts, tranny mounts, racing clutch and pressure plate, light weight flywheel, short throw shifter, front mount heat exchanger, GMP dual pass, 2.9 pulley, and most importantly DRs.

nice times man, I've had a few encounters with rsx's around here. I saw a white one on slicks at the track the last time going low 12's and high 11's. Not bad at all.

oh yeah my ss went 13.36 @105.50mph back when it was s/c'd on slicks and a 1200 rpm launch. (vids up on youtube) was going to run it on the 27th with the turbo setup, but my stock clutch is finally giving u p

Nice to see you went turbo.
The eaton doesn't have enough juice, need a whipple.
Turbo will be huge numbers...

Just getting there now.
I am obsessive about researching things before changing good parts.
Also, the IPS parts are hard to come by.
I have 2.5" exhaust right now, fabbed by me out of super thin-wall stainless.
The system weighs 13lbs.
3" exhaust and IPS cams going on in a few weeks.
I'll post dyno results.
Then, it's a new intake manifold before spring.
The elevation is 3500ft, and the DA was the same that night because it was cool.

The stock rsx isn't all that quick, I had a hard time getting into the 15's here.
The cobalt stock has hit 14.9 stock here, so the difference is huge.
Start modding each and the gap closes slightly.

Have you ever thought about taking some vacation and going to a dradstrip closer to sea-level to see what your car is fully capable of?

yeah she is making some beastly power now, too bad the stock clutch can't hold it. Swapping that out in the next 2-3 weeks for an exedy hyper unit... that should hold no problem

I sure have. Next summer it might happen.
I get the summers off at my work, so maybe.
Mission BC is at about 17ft above sea-level I think.
It's also a good track.
The stars would have to be aligned and glowing for me to run 12's even there.
My luck I'd get a 13.001...
It's a 12hour drive though.

impressive times I must say. But that much money put into a cobalt ss, and the cobalt ss would rip it hardcore. just thought I'd make the obvious statement.

I would have to agree. It is the nature of forced induction. Easy power.
My buddy put the same s/c on his rsx, ran 13.1@109 first time dragging on street tires.
It's just not my cup of tea.
The local Cobalt/Ion guys are going to be stepping things up next year, we'll just have to see what happens. Should be fun.

You lucky bastard! My wife will be in the same boat in 1 year. I don't think I'll be able to stay married to her!

It has some perks, now it's time to up the pay scale! It's a shame that teachers are expected to mold our children but they do not get payed the way the other greater good jobs do.
