Ever since the second week I have had my car, I have yet to stall.

However, I am still jolting back and forth from shifting from first to second gear. Maybe 80% of the time I jolt, 20% I can do it smoothly. Is it this "wheel hop" I hear about? Or is it me, the driver?


Also, what is a good time to get a wheel roation/balance? Im at 4000 miles and already did my first oil change of synthetic oil at 3000 miles.

5-7k is a good range for rotation and a rebalance.

nah dude, thats not wheel hop. thats you being a bad driver. well , not bad, but you know what i mean. wheel hop means that your wheels are actually hopping. it feels like your car is about to fall apart / shake itself loose.

 

you will know what wheel hop is as soon as you feel it trust me

 

Its just first to second, though. I dont ride the clutch, and I dont drop it very harshly. I assume the reason I jolt is I am dropping it too fast. I dont think it is going to make me need a new clutch sooner then anyone. A new part on the motor/transmission maybe...lol.

 

are u learning on how to drive a stick on that car?

 

It is my first stick, but I used to work at a Chevrolet dealer for a year or so, so I have been driving stick for a while. I "learned" on a corvette lol.

I like the SS/SC and decided to get it to replace my Explorer because it died.

And like, driving manual has become second nature to me after these few months, I just cant get first to second down. I even shift at a higher RPM. Like ill go to 4000 RPM or when my odometer says 20 and sometimes that helps to make it more smoothly to ease into second. However, after the shift to second, I cam do the rest smoothly.

 

just let the clutch out very slowly in first gear-second ggear, its really touchy! try when your letting thee clutch out and its almost completely out to pump it again like halfway then let it out comepletely

 

Yea.

I mean, I love my car, and I trully believe I can drive it well. ITs just that ONE shift. Can that one action of what I am doing wrong REALLY hurt my car in the long run? Its still pretty brand new. I try to not go over zealous on the gas pedal either. I take care of it reletively well. Synthetic oil, premium gas, tune ups/maintanence/check ups.


Also, I heard I need to get my superhcarger checked up on regularly, is this true??? If so, how many miles usually?

 

are you pushing the clutch all the way in? that would be a problem. try barely pushing it in, just enough so it's past the engage point. 1st to 2nd is a touchy one just have to get used to it.

 

You should be able let off the gas push in the clutch shift into second from first and still not get any jumping or shacking with out giving any gas. I find this car very easy to drive but I have also driving a standard trans for almost 20 years. Just practice and you will get better.


P.S. If I found out you learned on my Corvette I would rip your head off and **** down you throat! JK No really foot in ass!

 

Funyn stry, my chevy dealer would get about 2 Z06 vettes a month, or hell, even less then that. Sometimes us lot attendents would take them out for a "test drive."

Dude this car is the hardest stick I've ever driven...it's stupid...and what you're running into is normal

 

it's because the engine moves so much. get some new mounts and it won't do that at all anymore.

My ss was the first stick ive ever driven on a car (learned the clutch/shift thing on a bike ::WTF:. But i think im more or less good at it now, not the best, but pretty good.

About 2 months ago i test drove a stage 1 srt4...it was like ive never drivin a stick before in my life. It was completely retarded. The clutch, the shifter...all wrong. This MAY be because i wasnt used to the car but i wasnt used to the ss when i bought it and i didnt do as bad as i did in the srt4.

This is not always the case. I have full mounts and even traction bars yet I still have the 1st gear-jumpy problem sometimes as well. No, this is not my first stick ever, and no, I didn't just get this car. It may have something to do with all the torque down low... or something.

 

is it something to do with the tune? because i heard once u get the stg 2 reflash its a lil better

 

Try shifting at 3grand or 3.2 rmps. also its a hydro clutch, if you have never driven a car with hydrolic clutches... its going be hard
