Quick Question

Would it be better to use engine degreaser to clean out the engine bay, and then spray it off with water from the car wash? Obviously I am gonna leave the car running but I wanna keep that part of the car clean as much as possible since it will be the dirtest overall. Any suggestions?

Don't do it at a car wash. That's illegal, at least in MI.

Armor all tire foam works on all the plastic stuff.

Maybe it's not in OH, but around here there's signs that say no engine bay cleaning...some EPA crap.

But yea, it works real well on the plastic stuff, then I use degreaser on all the metal. Or did on my old car. Too scared to do it with the CAI now...

I work at a car dealership and clean my engine bay probably 2-3 times a year. All you need to do is spray down the engine bay with water, completely spray it with a degreaser then let it sit for like 2 minutes. If you want, you can take a sponge and soap to do some scrubbing. After that, spray it off with water and then either start your car and be on your way or use an air hose and spray off the water as much as you want. Thats all I do. Works great!

I wouldn't use a pressure washer.. just use a normal sprayer.. if you use a pressure washer, you could get water into some of the electronics (such as the fuse box). I know people that don't even use a sprayer...just a sponge and bucket of water.

i suggest using 'simple green'. its a great product. all i ever do is give the engine a light spray of water. spray the simple green wherever i can c. let it sit for a while and then hose it down. works great. better on a cool engine though.
