mkulrey13 10-27-2007, 06:56 PM wow LOVE the rims... haha
Red06LS 10-27-2007, 07:14 PM That might not be the final product, like sometimes they hide new stuff under the old body styles.
(just an idea)
SSdan 10-27-2007, 07:17 PM Also, if you look closely you can see it's the exact silver one as in this picture below.

turboeco 10-27-2007, 08:08 PM Where the hell did you get this pic!?!?!?!?
steddy2112 10-27-2007, 08:42 PM I think the rims kinda suck...remind me too much of the Cavy Sport package rims and I think I may be one of the few people who like the Cobalt, but not care too much for the cav...
JohnnySasakiMGS 10-27-2007, 08:44 PM Hells to the muthafuckin yeah! I've been waiting SO long for this!
Red06LS 10-27-2007, 08:45 PM One of the guys in the pic is my father and one of his crew took it and the other one thats been floating around. I have yet to see any in person but from hearsay they are waaay faster.
Your dad!!!!! Shit i would be folllowing him to work!!!! :twothumbs
*on a side note*
Where are all those people who had sigs saying "there is no turbo cobalt".....
 To them...
KillerBee 10-27-2007, 08:51 PM hmmm. pic was taken back in june.
if thats the case i dont believe this is a true pic unless you prove me other wise
memphisr24 10-27-2007, 08:56 PM So GM finally got the hint....Why would anyone put a supercharger on a measily 4 banger? Mini messed up too but they corrected them a year or two back....
Don't get me wrong, I love my ss/sc....But ~300 hp is just not enough for me and I have like reaking 6-7 grand into the car already....
cobalt9123 10-27-2007, 08:59 PM lol..they look awesome in my opinion..if they have a better interior i'll hold off on the LS1 project and just save for a new one of these...I'm sure it's real, and i'm sure they're coming out with it, same cobalt i've seen in every other picture.
On a side note, has anyone seen the new "GRAY" color the 08 cobalts come in? It's like a flat gray, kind of like the one that comes on Scions..it's meh...i'll tak e a pic and post it tomorow.
AlphaJaguar5 10-27-2007, 09:02 PM So GM finally got the hint....Why would anyone put a supercharger on a measily 4 banger? Mini messed up too but they corrected them a year or two back.....
Mini only changed due to emissions, the new mini has less hp and is actually slower...
Same case here 'cept for the fact that the new cobalt with the LNF will have 260 so it will be faster. As long as it puts out a high 13 stock it should be what GM wants. Thats where the LSJ shoulda been.
Man, i like them wheels, I'll be doin a swap once you can find them.
Johnboy12358 10-27-2007, 11:52 PM God, I want those wheels. How much lighter are they? The 95lb wheels on the SS/SC are killer
ss sleeper 10-27-2007, 11:56 PM if it is turbo charged it should have an intercooler right? but you can see it in the picture, im not totally sure thats the lnf cobalt
REIGN SS 10-28-2007, 12:00 AM Original Date/Time = 2007:06:17 16:38:40
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 12:03 AM you can't see anything in there though, because of the shade and the dudes legs, btw, came into el camino today ss sleeper lol
Red06LS 10-28-2007, 12:05 AM if it is turbo charged it should have an intercooler right? but you can see it in the picture, im not totally sure thats the lnf cobalt
It could be right there, the two pictures that are on this site of the tc/ss are from mostly the drivers side, that a pretty big space behind the bumper so...........;)
ss sleeper 10-28-2007, 12:08 AM It could be right there, the two pictures that are on this site of the tc/ss are from mostly the drivers side, that a pretty big space behind the bumper so...........;)
you should stil be able to see it but thats just me, lol
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 12:11 AM oh and about the intercooler, you never know, it could be a TMIC, top mount, like on subarus. We never know with GM....
05redline 10-28-2007, 12:23 AM Maybe GM will have enough common sense to address the increased wheel hop and torque steer.
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 12:23 AM Maybe GM will have enough common sense to address the increased wheel hop and torque steer.
yea...RWD
articzap 10-28-2007, 12:47 AM I enhanced the orignal picture and on the bottom appears to be a grill similar to the top.
Archie 10-28-2007, 03:20 AM Maybe GM will have enough common sense to address the increased wheel hop and torque steer.
Lighter wheels helps a tad with wheel hop, also the taller gears, but to quote the autoblog:
More than cornering capability, the Cobalt SS's chassis – along with the available limited-slip differential – also is tuned to mitigate conditions often associated with high-performance front-wheel-drive vehicles, such as torque steer and axle hop. The result is smooth application of the car's full performance potential, quickening acceleration and/or lap times and ensuring a smooth, comfortable driving experience on the way to the office.
cakeeater 10-28-2007, 03:34 AM oh and about the intercooler, you never know, it could be a TMIC, top mount, like on subarus. We never know with GM....
nah i went in there today lol at lunch
and i went out on I85 to dry off the car and saw andy, phaladone, you and that other dude with the black ss/sc and low rise all cruisin but i just went by then had to go back to work
nah they wouldn't put a tmic on there, it'd be retarded. Major heatsoak, especially because there is no airflow with that stock hood, and less efficiency because of underhood temps. a front mount isn't always easily visible though, and a side mount could be possible, at least just for the testing. Keep in mind guys, most car companies (including gm) dont want you to know the car they are driving around is what it is. Someone earlier mentioned "shells." well they could easily paint the IC black, or do an assortment of diff things to hide that intercooler and keep people form suspecting.
Tr1p1ng 10-28-2007, 03:55 AM
Btw, wtf are the stickers on the front of them?
kkanowitz 10-28-2007, 06:29 AM  Sorry for doing it, OP, but I went on your photobucket (public access) and also found these:
Here is our original to the 3 Cobalts we first saw months ago:

cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 10:54 AM hmm anyone see the badge on the left of that ss/tc? and i hope they keep the rims in that pic up there and not the ugly ass ones on the yellow prototype.
right of that tc*
rallyracer 10-28-2007, 10:56 AM and i hope they keep the rims in that pic up there and not the ugly ass ones on the yellow prototype.
right of that tc*
x2...those wheels on that yellow balt are fuckin fugly
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 11:22 AM yea they look uckin fugly, and i'm sure they'd be annoying as hell to clean, if thats what they come out with on the real tc's i'll be pissed haha
sealy 10-28-2007, 12:26 PM The grill mesh is different too!!
God those rims are fucking HOT
i disagree, i like the old ones better.
JPizzle 10-28-2007, 12:29 PM As long as they are polished & HIGH polished at that, I would not mind the new wheels...
I am ready to see the inside. I really wish they would do another G85 package that comes with the Recaro seats. That is one of the really big things about my car that I love and the reason why I didn't get a later 07.
JCswoosher2 10-28-2007, 01:18 PM I need to make it up to COmmerce then. i never see 7 SS/SC's
REIGN SS 10-28-2007, 02:27 PM I saw more then 7 just the other day:

kenstacy125 10-28-2007, 02:39 PM just remember for those of you who trade in your balts for the SS/TC after driving around like a mad man and letting that turbo do its thing when you get home let it after cool let your car sit in your drive way for like a min of two becuase if you drive around like a mad man and just shut off a turbo'd car after time the bearings could seize and fuck up. just letting you guys know. later
Cobalt_SSTuner 10-28-2007, 03:00 PM i dunno
FastPace Motorsports 10-28-2007, 03:34 PM Just somemore info:
TURBOCHARGED CHEVROLET COBALT SS GIVES A BOOST OF FUN TO THE COMPACT SEGMENT
LAS VEGAS – Celebrating the performance community that comprises SEMA, Chevrolet used the annual convention of all things high-performance to announce the 2008 Cobalt SS coupe. True to its legendary moniker, the Cobalt SS delivers a balance of track-proven performance capability, driving refinement and premium features – along with an undeniably fun and youthful character.
Developed by GM Performance Division (GMPD) and powered by a 260-horsepower (194 kW) turbocharged and intercooled 2.0L Ecotec engine, the Cobalt SS delivers 55 horses (41 kW) more than the previous Cobalt SS Supercharged, and its driving experience was validated on racetracks throughout North America and Europe, including Germany’s legendary Nürburgring circuit.
“The Cobalt SS is the very essence of Chevrolet’s fun spirit and serious performance,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “The horsepower will put a permanent smile on your face and you’ll find yourself wanting to turn around and zip through your favorite stretch of twisty roads again.”
The Cobalt SS coupe arrives in dealerships in the second quarter of 2008. A Cobalt SS sedan, with all of the same high-performance features of the coupe, follows a couple of months later.
Maximum performance – on the street or track
The Cobalt SS was developed by GM Performance Division (GMPD), with a team of engineers and designers dedicated to crafting high-performance vehicles. It features powertrain and chassis enhancements that are similar to the new HHR SS, but with larger Brembo brakes, a slightly “taller” final-drive ratio and other variances that emphasize the Cobalt SS’s pure performance ethic, as well as maximize its competitiveness on the track.
Engineered to offer more than merely a turbocharged rush of power, an all-new FE5 Sport suspension was developed and includes specific stabilizer bars, spring rates and damper tuning – all designed to complement the high-output turbocharged powertrain and mitigate afflictions such as torque steer. Driver-selectable modes help maximize performance whether on the street or track. The unique “no-lift shift” feature enables manual-transmission-equipped models to achieve the best acceleration time via an algorithm in the engine controller.
Ensuring the car stops as confidently as it accelerates and corners are four-wheel disc brakes with standard ABS. The front brakes are from Brembo and have a performance-oriented fixed-caliper design, which resist fade better than floating caliper designs; the rear discs are vented for better heat dissipation. Along with these high-performance attributes, the Cobalt SS comes standard with a host of safety features, including the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system and side-impact air bags.
With its balanced tuning, the Cobalt SS delivers a quick 0-60 time of approximately 5.7 seconds – thanks to the manual transmission’s “no-lift shift” feature – and a sports car-like maximum lateral grip of 0.9 g. This combination enabled the Cobalt SS to set a new class record while circulating the famed Nürburgring racing circuit, posting a time of 8:22.85 minutes.
Unmistakable style
The Cobalt SS is distinguished on the exterior with several unique features, including a distinctive, air dam-style front fascia with integrated projector-beam fog lamps. The new fascia’s grille and the Cobalt’s upper grille sport a new, SS-specific diamond-mesh appearance.
SS-specific rockers and badging adorn the body sides, while a standard deck lid spoiler adds the requisite sporty touch to the rear of the car. The standard spoiler can be replaced with an optional high wing-style aero enhancement that gives the Cobalt SS the look of a racecar. Also at the rear is a prominent, bright-tip exhaust outlet.
Large, five-spoke 18-inch polished forged aluminum wheels and performance tires are standard and are tailored with the specific body enhancements to give the Cobalt SS a lower, performance-oriented stance – while also showing off the large Brembo front brake calipers. They’re mounted on 225/40-series summer tires. Likewise, the available exterior colors enhance the sporty nature of the vehicle. They include Victory Red, Black, Ultra Silver Metallic, Imperial Blue, Rally Yellow, Sport Red Tintcoat and White.
Like the exterior, the interior is unique to the Cobalt SS, including SS-embroidered sport seats with suede-like UltraLux inserts, a specific gauge cluster, an A-pillar-mounted turbo boost gauge and a new shifter arrangement. Three interior color combinations are available: Ebony, Light Grey and Victory Red.

good point: my advice is two words-- Turbo Timer. I don't know how many times that thing's saved my friend's 3000GT VR4 TT after a nice run through the canyon.
Cobalt_Supercharged 10-28-2007, 04:10 PM Man this sucks. They are fixing all the problems that I have with the car. The original concept mesh grills, offered in white, great looking lighter wheels, 225/40 tires instead of 215/45, bigger Brembo brakes that shouldn't groove like the crappy stock brakes. Only things they missed were the transmission first gear ratio and STANDARD LSD. I will miss the sound of the SC. Whine>BOV although the exhaust should sound amazing now.
Blown 4-banger 10-28-2007, 04:27 PM I'm make sure to get a picture of the SS/TC while I'm at SEMA. My dad and I are leaving on tuesday morning early, and we're staying in Vegas until thursday for the SEMA show :twothumbs

looks like a ss/sc or tc with a chrome grill( on the LT sedan packages) i wonder what all thats about...red one, right corner
an0malous 10-28-2007, 05:44 PM wish i could meet them.
and tell them their ss/sc Stage 2 tune was pretty pathetic.
:D
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 05:44 PM hahaha
G85 models are with the Recaro's..?
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 06:53 PM of the ss/sc yea they are, but i don't know about the new ones, i havent read whether there will be a g85 package or not on the TC's, i would assume that LSD's would be standard but the seating optional..who knows?!
there's some LSJ's in that pic up there too^
unless they're tc's with sc rims.
rukkee 10-28-2007, 09:25 PM there's some LSJ's in that pic up there too^
unless they're tc's with sc rims.
That is a picture of a cobalt get together , not at the factory .:)
Razor564 10-28-2007, 10:06 PM I like the new rims, look kind of corvette inspired.
RedSS 10-28-2007, 11:22 PM I'm really hoping the SEMA Cobalts will have the wheels in the picture on this thread, not the wheels in the press release. GM did the same damn thing in 2004 when they pictured the car in a photoshop with different (and better looking) wheels than the production car. Why do they keep doing that??
cobalt9123 10-28-2007, 11:34 PM That is a picture of a cobalt get together , not at the factory .:)
i knew that. not.
lol...but i thought he said that there were LNF's in there? how were there LNF's and other cobalts?
leasklikasieve 10-28-2007, 11:37 PM i really wanna see more pics of this. hopefully they stay making them for a couple years like the ss/sc. my car is only 1 year old and i cant afford something new. wont trade my car for that, but in a few years i will be looking for something new, and depending on my income i will prolly keep my car for the awd aspect. either that or buy a used jeep for winter.
i really like the lsf engine. ive been asking myself since the solstice gxp/sky redline came out when it was getting put in this. im happy. just need to see it in person.
Cobalt_Supercharged 10-29-2007, 12:02 AM I'm really hoping the SEMA Cobalts will have the wheels in the picture on this thread, not the wheels in the press release. GM did the same damn thing in 2004 when they pictured the car in a photoshop with different (and better looking) wheels than the production car. Why do they keep doing that??
Yeah the Hart Racing C5 wheels. They are sexy, but I like these much better.
Cameron you had better get lots of really good pics for us...or no fuel rail for you!
Definitely need to see some engine and interior pics.
ticketdoctor 10-30-2007, 04:51 PM just remember for those of you who trade in your balts for the SS/TC after driving around like a mad man and letting that turbo do its thing when you get home let it after cool let your car sit in your drive way for like a min of two becuase if you drive around like a mad man and just shut off a turbo'd car after time the bearings could seize and fuck up. just letting you guys know. later
Uhh, last I knew, turbo'd vehicles including the Saab's have their fan run for a while after parking. If that fan stops working for whatever reason, then you manually have to sit there parked with car on for a few minutes. Usually the auto makers think of these things when they build it factory.
Well you can get a turbo timer so you still have oil pressure in the turbo so it is still cooling while the turbine is slowing down to a stop. Once you kill the car the oil stops and tries to make its way back down to the pan and the turbo is spinning without proper oil and pressure. This is not good for your turbo over many many times doing this. With a turbo timer you can turn the car to the off position, take you keys out and lock the car while it is still running and the turbo timer will shut the car off after your programed time expires.
QuikSilverSS 11-01-2007, 09:30 AM If you look in the picture posted on the 1st page , it doesnt look like they have the brembo brakes like on the 09 SS Turbo car that was just released at the SEMA show, makes me wonder if its the truth, or it could just be some pre production versions they used for testing, the rims look the same though
