Seat Belt Warning Light/Chime Cobalt SS 2.4

On my wifes Cobalt SS 2.4, when not buckled up the seat belt light and chime will shut off after a few minutes and then it comes back on after a few more minutes. This cycle will continue until you buckle up. According to the manual this is normal. My SS SC does not keep repeating, it will only warn you once and then not come back on.

Any others have this with the 2.4 SS ?

ThanX

The sensors always checking for a seat belt in the area you buckle it into. My guess is a malfunction

I concur, it isn't hard to do and may save your life one day.

I'm suprised it isn't a law out there to wear your seat belt yet... While on topic--what happened to that national 'Click it or ticket' campaign?

Airbags or not... Wear your goddamn seat belt. Its been a reflex of mine since I can remember.

Cheap insurance against fatal or very costly injury.

The seat belt reminder light/chime might be missing from your car and that's like a Year of Production calibration thing. Don't fret and wear your seatbelt if you're in the car. Most auto accidents happen closest to home.

The thing that bothers me is when the warning chime goes off for the passenger seat belt. It's based on a weight sensor, so if I put something heavy on my passenger seat the stupid chime starts ringing... guess it's just something I'll have to live with.

Just put ur seat belt on.
I can't even drive adound a parking lot without my seatbelt on.
I have had my life saved by a seatbelt and the accident was less then a mile from my house. It is natural selection, if you are to ******* stuped to put a seatbelt on you should be dead.

I'm not looking for opinions on if I should wear my seat belt. I'm trying to figure out if there may be a problem with my wifes SS 2.4. The warning chime and light keeps recycling and won't stop until I latch the belt (both front seats get the warning when occupied). It does not do this in my SS SC. My SS SC does not even have any warning for the passenger side.

Sucks Eh, When you get the unexpected...

The funny thing is that, if you always wore the seatbelt, you would never know there might be a problem..

Asstyme.... sounds like a definate problem... possibly a short or a loose fuse... I only get the passenger side warning if I sit something heavy in my passenger seat. When the seat is empty it dosen't do anything. I'd have it checked out.

I'm assuming your wife's SS is an 06 with the Passeger Pressence System (PPS) as part of the airbags and yours is an 05 or 06 with Recaros without PPS correct ?
The two warning systems work slightly different, but as you said the owners manual correctly descibes the system operation

Ya, mine is a 2006 with the RECAROS. I just got back from the service department and they are arguing over weather or not this is correct Just seems kinda funny the warnings would keep repeating.......
Can anybody with a SS 2.4 confirm weather or not this is normal ???

ThanX

Your car wants you to die.

My monte does that too. It blinks a few times, then it like gives up. Iy's like "whatever. die then." haha!!!

But no, my 2.4 is very consistant. It keeps going all day.
