Y what is it? OniMirage 10-29-2007, 04:59 PM interesting I just noticed that ... also the hp peak is at 5300 exactly 1k rpm before rev limit I wonder if there is a drop off after 5300 Archie 10-29-2007, 05:05 PM interesting I just noticed that ... also the hp peak is at 5300 exactly 1k rpm before rev limit I wonder if there is a drop off after 5300 There is a drop. The K04 turbo isn't designed for high reving power, it is designed for low rpm power. Rangerondubz 10-29-2007, 05:17 PM Im 99% sure that the powerband will NOT hold till redline OniMirage 10-29-2007, 05:17 PM interesting I wonder which would be faster an ss/tc or a ss/sc stage 2 brentil 10-29-2007, 05:25 PM LNF dyno from a Solstice GXP base then 3" exhaust. It doesn't drop off, it just doesn't gain anymore. Some of the tunes for the LNF push the redline to 7000 RPM too. http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showthread.php?t=82351 killah_thug08 10-29-2007, 05:27 PM interesting I wonder which would be faster an ss/tc or a ss/sc stage 2 i would guess the TC because more Tq correct me if im wrong OniMirage 10-29-2007, 05:38 PM i would guess the TC because more Tq correct me if im wrong I would agree initially but I think the top end would be owned by the sc since there are many stock ss/sc's putting out 210-220 since the ss/sc was underrated greekss 10-29-2007, 05:44 PM so what do you guys think would be better? Stick with my 06 sc and eventually get it twincharged, or take a loss and spring for the tc ss? Bika 10-29-2007, 05:44 PM i was reading the factory rev limit is 6300. i actually prefer lower redline / shift points. if i wanted high revs, id have bought a honda. not a fan of the ss t/c. i wont be swtiching. imo its not worth the extra money to trade. OniMirage 10-29-2007, 05:46 PM so what do you guys think would be better? Stick with my 06 sc and eventually get it twincharged, or take a loss and spring for the tc ss? My cobalt will one day end up dual charged but probably not for a few years greekss 10-29-2007, 05:58 PM see i kinda wanted the upgrade, silver this time not black, and no spoiler.....but idk, depends on how much the tc balt will be. maybe i'll spring for a sky redline... see i also like the balt b/c of the fun new features they are going to have on it. ie the brakes, better suspension, engine improvements: no lift shift, new driver info center, and i'm interested in what the seats will look like mIkeyG312 10-29-2007, 06:03 PM i saw its being offered in white that caught my interest right away.. im gonna take a look at it when it comes out but i doubt i will trade mine for it.. almost every other car is turbo so ill stick with the supercharger unless there is changes that i like Boostin_07_SS 10-31-2007, 01:24 AM already have my name down on a waiting list for the ss/tc... tradin in mine for it.. im gonna miss the S/C... but there is always more Hp when it comes to a T/C when you start to go high performance... cause you figure T/C.. high 13 seconds on a nice day and good driver.. stock.. and full bolt ons and a boost controller and tune.. low 13s maybe even hit the 12s..,, RuSSo-29 10-31-2007, 12:13 PM I think i'll just keep my car, and look to sawp this motor in down the road. That, + the saab 6speed trans! 07 SS/SC 10-31-2007, 12:39 PM already have my name down on a waiting list for the ss/tc... tradin in mine for it.. im gonna miss the S/C... but there is always more Hp when it comes to a T/C when you start to go high performance... cause you figure T/C.. high 13 seconds on a nice day and good driver.. stock.. and full bolt ons and a boost controller and tune.. low 13s maybe even hit the 12s..,, waiting list for a cobalt Blown 4-banger 11-01-2007, 12:52 AM The redline is at 6300 and peak power is at 5300. After looking at the dyno chart, you'd be a fool shifting higher than MAYBE 5700. It drops 60 ft-lbs of torque in 1000 rpm and like 35-40 hp. Once its done making power, its DONE. Or just stay with an SC cobalt and shift at 7  codyss 11-01-2007, 11:47 AM When I was looking into buying a Solstice GXP it was very noticable that after 5,600 the engine stoped pulling and just made noise. It reminded me of my 2003 Mustang GT that redlined a good 1000rpm past where it actually pulled. SwizzDSMSS 11-01-2007, 02:34 PM Or just stay with an SC cobalt and shift at 7  Or put a GT30 on it and tune for a 7k redline and destroy your SC. Spoony 11-01-2007, 02:48 PM Unless you can get a really sweet deal and take a very small loss, I'd keep the SC. Personally my next car isn't going to be FWD, so the TC'd Cobalt doesn't interest me all that much. I'm sure it'll be easier to tune and you'll be able to eventually do a turbo swap and tune for even more power, but you're still going to be fighting the uphill battle that is trying to get performance out of an inferior platform.
