Looking for a new car

I am looking for reliable transportation in the $15k+ range.

I am not particularly interested in an American cars, as I've had no luck with them- My current '95 Olds Achivea is falling apart. I'd rather have a Subaru but I just can't afford it. I can get a 15% discount on all GM cars, so the Cobalt is in the running.

How does the Cobalt stack up with the Hyundai Elantra? It's basically in the same price range.

I am a tall guy and the coupe has more headroom/legroom in the front. I've been looking to test drive the coupe but nobody has one, only sedans.

GM has changed a considerable amount since the Olds. Acheiva made its debut. I highly recommend you give them another chance.

Besides... even if anything were to malfunction, you have a warranty to back you up... so no out of pocket expenses or anything of that nature. (for peace of mind more than anything)

The one thing Hyundai has going for them is their warranty.

It does look as if the Cobalt is a better car overall than the Elantra. It's too bad there is no 5-Door version, that really has me interested.

I do find it a bit amusing the Cobalt Coupe has larger interior space than the sedan.

Now it's only a matter of if I can wait for the dealerships to get them.

The only thing I would really take into consideration is that Hyundai has the worst crash ratings. Cobalt (with side curtain) is one of the best. From what everone that has a coupe here is saying it sound as if the Cobalt is really living up to the hype. Take a look around the site, there is plenty of info here.
