The west side of Michigan got hit with a fair amount of snow and ice last night, and that's all I needed to put my winter tire / wheel order in to tirerack. I ended up getting the Dunlop Wintersport M3s in 205/60-16 with a set of Sport Edition F6 wheels. I'll mount 'em as soon as I get 'em and will post reviews / pics for those interested.

yep, I live near Grand Rapids and pulled the blizzaks out last night. It will literally transform the car into a tank.

Literally? So it makes your car grow tracks, armour and a gun? Cool!

havnt got them yet ...someone on this site got g6 16" rims

I would have to check for sure but the 05 malibu rims should have the same bolt pattern and work for clearance

If a heavy snowfall comes down before you get yours tires on I'll let you know how the X-Ice hold up...I'm going to the dealer today to pick them up and get them installed. I had to go with the 15" steels that come stock on the base model Cobalts so I went with a bigger sidewall to make up the difference over my 16s. Price after taxes was somewhere in the ballpark of $955.00 and I believe that includes balancing and installation...if not it will by the time I leave Macmaster . My car is officially going to look like hell at 3:30 today but I guess safety is more important in the winter than appearance :).

I dont know if I would want to throw x ice on this soon ...I guess it depends on how much highway driving you do but they will wear down really fast with no snow on the ground. I don't think we will see snow that stays for a bit as the ground around us is really warm ...

my guess is dec 1-5 will be the time I throw mine on...but I want to have them purchased and ready to go

This was one of my concerns with putting them on now but since I typically drive the car to work and back (16km total round trip) along with only very little in-town driving during the week I thought they should hopefully be ok. I will be avoiding the highway as much as possible though except to go back home and clean up my rims and tires for storage since I don't have anywhere to keep them in my apartment...I'll just use my parents garage :).

I was going to put this off until early in December as you are but I'm guessing as long as the temperatures stay where they are it shouldn't be a problem. If it goes back above 10c again though I might have to leave the car parked more often then I'd like to be sure I still have rubber left for winter.

going to 7 this sat ...with lots of rain/slush in the future ...but typicaly even after we get snow it warms up again ...I plan to change my rims off the day I see salt ..(since sand somes first I should have some buffer) but I want to make sure I get the rims so there is minimal delay when that time comes ..plus I want to see if I go to the pontiac dealership if they will let me take out a solstice (if they have one) then I can price out some g6 rims/tires

That would be me with the G6 rims. And you got the same tires I did, good choice!

Well got the snows on and I'm already missing the rims...thank god it's only temporary until the winter gets here and goes away! Definitely notice it being a bigger tire over what was on there before there is nowhere near the same amount of feedback I'm used to and the expected loss in traction on the dry surface is there...gotta slow down just a touch on the corners now. Other than that guess next weekend I'll be cleaning the rims and tires until I could floss my teeth in them and putting them to sleep for the winter. I just need to get used to the look of the car with the steels on it...it's gonna take a bit to adjust .

man it has snow here like once in the past 80 years and it was last year... i'm quite glad i don't have to worry about snow tires, but watch now it is going to snow again on christmas... but still it only stayed on the ground for like 2 days then the Texas heat turned it into water... to all of you that had to get snow tires and new wheels.. good luck, and be careful, snow banks are a bitch...
