Question silverstar ultras?

is there anyone out there who has bought the Silverstar Ultras for their balt yet? i have a set of luminics but im thinkin about gettin the silverstars cuz i hear they supposedly work a lot better. just wanted to hear some opinions before i go spend the $50 on them.

edit: or if neone has any other suggestions for a good set of aftermarket headlights please post them up. (no i dont wanna get HID's cuz i dont feel like making a $500 project outta projector headlights and a HID kit)

I use the regular Silverstars which are whiter and brighter than stock--I had one burn out (after a year and a half...not bad life for an aftermarket bulb)

The salesman at AutoZone tried to sell me the Silverstar Ultra, and said they're even better than the ones that I use--I was low on cash though so I didn't get them. Kinda wish I would have, though.

They're all good. Just a bit whiter and brighter than the regular Silverstars. Hmm, I think I still have my set of Ultras that I can't even use anymore since I've got the Halo headlights.

dissapointing IMO.
the improvement over stock was minimal at best.
and not nearly worth the cost considering if your lucky you might get 12 months out of them.

i had the regular silverstars and decided to upgrade to the ultras, there was no difference, the regulay siverstars had a bluish tint, and the ultras didnt. they were both equally bright. dont waste money on the ultras, the regular ones even look cooler.

Yea.. I have them in the Balt.. the Philips Crystal Vision I had weren't bad at all either before.. but for the price, the Ultras aren't worth it.. maybe its a Cobalt thing?

but w/e..

As long as you get the $30 set and not the $20 set Silverstars are good. The $20 set will burn out quicker, and also the $30 set can be returned if they burn out within a year.

My Silverstar Ultras have been great for about 4 months now. Last night the low beam filament burned out in one light. I emailed Sylvania, they have a policy that within one year they will replace the bulbs, but I haven't heard anything back yet. Give the Luminics a try, the $50 I paid for SSU's was not worth it.

The money you spend on those could go to a quality HID kit... and you will NEVER be disappointed with one of those...

Agreed.

but if you buy HIDs make sure you buy HID projectors too.
Dont cheap out and just put a hid kit in factory reflectors.

A quality HID kit will run you somewhere between $150-250

and I think projectors are under 200 now arent they?

You could always do a retrofit too it can be done cheaper than projectors.

no. the bulbs that come with the projectors are just like that oem silvania walmart kinda ****.

HIDs or a quality bulb in projectors is a must.

well i bought a set of black headlight housings that i have to get aimed cuz im having a hard time doin it myself. if i get them fixed then ill stick with those for a while and try to find a good cheap bulb that works better then the crappy stockers.

and if not i guess ill start saving up for projectors and a HID kid. and down the road when i have the money ill decide if i really want them or not.
