i don't see the need for a beater when you have a > $22,000 car. if you have one i guess why not. but i think that buying something so you can "save" a cobalt is silly

That is not the reason why I bought a beater. I bought it cause I don't have the money for a set of winter wheels/tires. I went through last winter with the balt and it wasn't very fun. It is was actually dangerous in the snow.

Car is lowered and I still think that the bottom line is that the car is not safe in snow. When we get snow we get a lot.

I have a 1989 Geo Spectrum for my Winter car. Cobalt is going in the garage tomor. for some mods and depending if it snows tonight will stay there for winter storage. My cobalt will not see the nasty winters here in PA. Its not the snow that hurts the car, its the ******* salt **** and rock salt. Will leave nasty chips in paint and corride the hell out of a car. My father had the Geo since new and it has 150k miles. Runs very good, I'll post some pics up when I get a chance. Well worth what I paid, 150 bucks. Thing gets 33-40mpg baby.

remove lower grill insert for deep snow

I run my SC in the snow on V-Rated Dunlop Winter Max M3's.... it's like a 4x4!!!
remove your lower grill insert for deep snow.... the deep snow in his driveway pushed up the bottom of the air damn up and popped out my lower grill last year in a buddies driveway..... I then proceeded to unknowingly run over it numerous times!!!!

I will be taking mine out this year

I just bought a 94 civic dx for 550. Odometer is not accurate because someone replaced the gauge cluster from an automatic civic ( its a stick shift lol ) , heat doesnt work yet, needed new tires, brakes hardly work, exhaust leaks, radio doesnt work. Hmm what else is wrong with it.

I have 94 Nissan Altima, i did a ton of work to it over the summer including new brakes line, pads and rotors. Plus I did my own undercoating and repaired some rust spots along the wheel wells. Its got me through two hard canadian winters so far lol.
